Spend the day in Snæfellsnes National Park, often described as “Iceland in Miniature” for its diverse scenery. Travel in a group of no more than 19 people for your comfort and maximum personal attention. Depart Reykjavik and get your first view of Snæfellsjökull volcano on the way to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Marvel at the highest peak in the area, often visible from the capital on clear days. Continue to the charming farm of Ytri-Tunga, where the nearby beach is home to a popular seal colony. Look at their cute faces as they sunbathe and play in the surf. Discover the coastal areas and natural harbor of Arnarstapi and Hellnar, where beautiful rock formations, spotted with green-and-yellow moss, dot the coastline. Take a stroll along the cliffs to get some refreshing sea air. Next, look at the 2 black basalt columns of Lóndrangar, so tall that they can be seen from the road. Go to the black beach of Djúpalónssandur, where the air is filled with the sound of birds circling the cliffs and the ocean waves hitting the sand. Move on to the curious smooth stones of Djúpalónssandur. Known as “lifting stones,” they were used to measure the strength of fishermen who worked and lived along the coast.  The largest, called "Fullsterkur" (“Full-Strength”) weighs 154 kilograms (340 pounds) and you should lift it with your knees so that you don’t hurt your back. The second is known as "Hálfsterkur" (“Half-Strength”) and weighs 100 kilograms (220 pounds), while the third, called "Hálfdrættingur" (“Weakling”), weighs 54 kilograms (119 pounds). If you could only lift the 23-kilogram (50-pound) stone called "Amlóði" ("Useless”), then you were considered the shame of your village. Test your strength! On the way to Snæfellsnes Peninsula, we will pass a wonderful little town called Borgarnes. The journey to this place is absolutely phenomenal – we will drive through a fjord and many scenic mountains. Borgarnes was one of the first places Norwegian Vikings settled when they arrived in Iceland. Our first stop in Snæfellsnes will be a heavenly place for animal lovers – a place where the wild seals live. Ytri-Tunga is a sandy beach that has a little secret hidden away down by the sea, behind the farmhouses… a seal colony! Seals love to spend their time on the rocks of this beautiful beach. They are friendly and curious and will climb up on the rocks for you to spot them from a distance. In the old days seals used to be killed for food or for fashion, however nowadays Icelanders see seals as a beautiful addition to the culture and encourage visitors to come and visit them as well. Our next stop will be an old village located in the middle of huge lava fields – Búðir. In the old times the village used to be called Hraunhofn, which meant ‘“The Harbor of Lava” in Icelandic. Nowadays, in the once thriving town, the only standing building is a tiny wooden black church called Búðakirkja – better known as Black Church of Búdir. Also a modern Hotel Búðir has been recently built. Our next stop is a small fishing village at the bottom of a mountain, with one of the most beautiful harbors in the country. This tiny fishing village has picturesque coastal cliffs which derived from glowing magma, hit by the wild waves of the Atlantic. Thousands of years later, erosion has formed beautiful stone arches and a remarkable marine geyser. We will visit the coastline as we share some extremely fascinating stories about Bárður, the half-man half-troll, and his stories in the area. Afterwards we will stop at a beautiful Gatklettur, also known as “Hellnar Arch”. Gatklettur is a beautiful naturally formed stone arch. Gatklettur is a spectacular place for photographers, and videographers. Djúpalónssandur is a striking black sand beach on Iceland's Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Its volcanic pebble shoreline, shipwreck remains, and ancient lifting stones create a captivating and mysterious atmosphere. Nearby Dritvík Cove offers breathtaking views and is a haven for birdwatchers. Djúpalónssandur is a place where Iceland's coastal beauty and rich history come together. The Lóndrangar are a pair of gigantic (75-meter high) basalt pinnacles, which are remains from a volcanic crater from ten of thousands of years ago. They can be seen emerging over the entire southern coastline. In the area we might find a huge variety of seabirds, northern fulmars and Iceland’s beloved puffins. We will end our day with Kirkjufell - the most famous mountain in Iceland, which was featured multiple times on Game of Thrones. At the bottom of the mountain, you will find a lake which reflects a perfect mirror image of Kirkjufell.

On your first day, you will go to the Famous Golden Circle. Enjoy thehe Grand Golden Circle tour, a compact 8 hour tour that takes you to a series of remarkable and diverse sites in the Southwest of Iceland in a span of only eight hours. In the Geysir geothermal area, get the chance to observe the boiling hot spring Strokkur spout steaming water up to 30 meters into the air every 8 minutes. Next, head to the iconic waterfall of Gullfoss, or Golden Falls, only a 7 minutes’ drive from Geysir, located in the glacial river Hvítá. Marvel at it's elegant and majestic form which is like no other, where the torrential river water plummets in two steps down into a 32 meters deep canyon. After this, visit Þingvellir National Park which located at the intersection of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates and is not only a site of geological wonder, but also a place charged with history, as the site of the national parliament since 930. At Þingvellir, learn its stories of geographical and political struggles, compromises and ongoing evolution. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to visit the volcanic crater lake Kerið. On the second day, embark on a 10 hour Southern Iceland tour which will take you to diverse natural pearls along the enchanting south coast of Iceland. Take in a landscape characterised by strong contrasts, where grown plains meet coarse mountains and fire meets ice. Then, visit the waterfalls of Skógafoss, with its breathtaking 60m drop, and Seljalandsfoss, which you can walk behind and through to the other side. In Reynisfjara, or Black Sand Beach, experience the raw and alluring force of the North Atlantic and its masterfully shaped basalt column cliffs. The site is equally beautiful as it is dangerous, and should be approached with a healthy level of awe and respect. Next, take a short walk up to the glacier snout of Sólheimajökull, a sublet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull, where you can witness the dynamics of Icelandic glaciers, their formation, behaviour and rapid melting. On the third and last day, experience the range of Icelandic natural beauty in just one area—the wonderfully diverse Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Snæfellsjökull National Park We'll drive through the stunning Snæfellsjökull National Park, a protected wilderness area surrounding the majestic Snæfellsjökull glacier. On a clear day, you can even see this glacier from Reykjavik! Enjoy the breathtaking scenery as we journey through this remarkable national park. 4. Djúpalónssandur Beach Get ready for the stunning Djúpalónssandur black sand beach. You'll walk along the black pebbles and see pieces of old shipwrecks scattered on the sand. There are also some old lifting stones here – a fun challenge if you're feeling strong! 5. Lóndrangar Basalt Cliffs We'll see the impressive Lóndrangar basalt cliffs, two huge rock formations rising from the sea. They are all that's left of an old volcano and are home to many birds, offering amazing coastal views. 6. Arnarstapi We'll visit the charming village of Arnarstapi, a picturesque place with mountains behind it and cliffs by the sea. It used to be a busy fishing village, and you can still feel its history. Enjoy a walk along the cliffs and maybe spot some seabirds. The Arnarstapi bridge is a famous photo spot. 7. Búðir Black Church We'll make a stop at the beautiful Búðir Black Church. This striking wooden church stands alone in a vast lava field, creating a wonderful contrast in the landscape – a perfect photo opportunity! 8. Ytri Tunga Beach Seals Our final stop on the peninsula is Ytri Tunga Beach. This golden sand beach is a great place to see seals! Keep an eye out for these playful creatures basking on the rocks near the shore. After exploring the wonders of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, we'll begin our journey back to central Reykjavik, dropping you off at the same bus stop where we picked you up.
