What to Expect
Day 1: Arequipa City – Colca Valley (Meal – Buffet L)
We will head for the spectacular Colca Valley climbing by the skirts of the Chachani volcano; the view of the Misti and Picchu Picchu volcanoes is spectacular. We will cross the Pampa Cañahuas Vicuna Reserve, where we will see them freely grazing in the highlands. Unique typical villages will appear on our way. We will reach the town of Chivay where we will have lunch. We will have the afternoon free to rest and enjoy our lodge or to optionally visit the hot baths in the surrounding area. Overnight in the lodge.
Day 2: Colca Canyon – Condor’s Flight – Puno (Meals – B, L)
Very early in the morning we will head for the Condor Cross viewpoint, where we expect to see the awesome flight of the condors, huge endangered birds that are the symbols of the Andes Mountains. Here we will be able to have a full view of the size of the canyon, considered as one of the deepest canyons in the world. We will then visit the villages of Maca (Achoma) and Yanque, which still preserve their colonial churches,we arrive in the afternoon in chivay to get the conecction tourist bus to Puno (take 6 hours).
Finally we arrive at Puno city, we will get transfer to our Accommodation in Puno
Day 3: Titicaca Lake Floating Islands Uros - Taquile Islands - Puno (Meals B, L)
Early in the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Puno by our local guide and then transferred to the harbor. We start off our boat excursion of Lake Titicaca by visiting “The Uros Floating Islands”, a small community that has lived on these reed Islands for decades.
On the islands we will learn with our local guide about the life style and customs. After strolling around the floating Islands, we continue our journey towards “Taquile Island” (2 hour aprox.), a traditional Quechua speaking community, when we reach the shores of Taquile Island, we will have to walk up along a narrow path, enjoying on the way impressive views of the Lake Titicaca and also see gorgeous little houses inhabited by the direct decedents of the Inca Culture. At the top of the Island, you will have free time to explore this place on your own and afterwards you will meet the group for lunch at one local restaurant. After lunch, we will descent to the harbor to take our boat back to Puno.
