From Fairbanks: Arctic Circle Northern Lights Full-Day Trip

1. From Fairbanks: Arctic Circle Northern Lights Full-Day Trip

Alaska is a land of constant change. On this full day tour, you will have the chance to experience some of the best and most unique things that make your Alaska trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Beginning at 1 PM, get picked up from your hotel and venture up to the Arctic Circle (66.5622°) north of the Equator, where you can have your pictures taken and receive a "Cross the Circle-Certificate." It is here that explorers have been venturing for centuries, drawn by the power the planet has to offer. As you continue your day, pass the Trans-Alaska-Pipeline. Here you can glance one of the world's largest pipelines, which stretches over 800 miles (1,287km). It is a crude oil pipeline privately owned by the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, and here you will learn the engineering and building process of this epic land-crawling beast. Judge for yourself its impact on the landscape around it. After the pipeline, head straight for the banks of the mighty Yukon River. Walk right up to the edge of its banks, where you will gaze out over the beauty in front of you. From here, head to the high plateau of Finger Mountain, where you will hopefully see moose, fox, bears, and perhaps even a mysterious lynx if you're lucky! Up on the mountain, snack on sandwiches, sweets and hot drinks. Through the night, travel back to Fairbanks. Soon, if we're lucky, the Aurora Borealis appears. This natural light display is caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms high in the atmosphere. The result is a breathtaking display of light that can be bright enough to read a newspaper by! Drive through the night, gazing up at the spectacular Northern Lights, before arriving back in Fairbanks around 3 AM.

It was pretty good. The only things that could be improved was the communication not only from the company but also with the guide as well. I had to call the company to find out what type of vehicle to look for. Also when I got in the vehicle, the guide didn't inform me about my lunch. There was a couple attending the trip as well, and I wasn't sure if the meal that was by my seat was for me or the husband and wife on my tour. As we made our way toward the Arctic Circle, the guide was real quiet, which made the trip seem a bit dull. Even if you're not talking about things that you're passing,it would be great if the guide strikes up conversation a out other things. While being in a vehicle that long and having nothing but silence for most of the trip, it makes the trip a bit boring. The guide tried to buy cigarettes from me,and then asked if I'd give a 5 star rating so he gets an additional $15.00

Amazing trip! Ryan, our tour guide was professional, engaging, thoughtful and knowledgeable. Ryan made sure the participants were given plenty of time during frequent stops to enjoy breathtaking topography and picture-perfect locations. Pick up was a few minutes earlier than scheduled which allowed all tour participants (total 6) to get on the road on time! Rebekah (spelling?) maintained communication from the office up to a few minutes prior to pick up which we appreciated! Sandwiches were fresh and we had a variety of snacks and plenty of water available for the long trip.

Our tour guide is super awesome!!! We felt safe throughout the whole journey. He found aurora on our way home. Yay! That has become our most precious group photo in our Alaska journey!

To see the Aurora Borealis and the river in ice, the beautiful landscape, volcanes, enchanted trees, enjoy hot chocolate in the middle of the cold I love this trip.

Being able to see the Artic circle and the northern lights was awesome of an experience. The guide Ryan was great.
