Braga Private Walking Tour

4. Braga Private Walking Tour

Braga wonders with the charm of an ancient as well as modern city. The name stems from the Proto-Celtic word “Bracara”, home of the Bracari Celtic tribe, who lived in hillside forts known as the “Castro culture” until these were subdued by the Roman empire. The city itself was founded as “Bracara Augusta” in 20 BC, during the rule of Emperor Augustus, to later pass into Visigothic hands, when it played an important part in the Christianization of the Iberian Peninsula. The Christian “Reconquista”, was the spiritual centre of Iberia, until the rise of Santiago de Compostela. The capital of the Minho region of Portugal is today a demonstration of the perfect blend of the beauty of the Romanesque and Portuguese eras in the architectural structure. Engage in the journey of an elegant town laced with ancient narrow lanes and a splendid array of baroque churches. We will take you to an exploration from the Arch of the New Gate to the Convento dos Congregados Church. With this tour, you will get to know the turbulent historic stories surrounding this city!

For my family this trip was a vacation saver! Rodolfo shared a lot of interesting facts about Portuguese history and culture, taking us from one breathtaking art monument to another. We wouldn’t have the same experience, traveling on our own or in a large group. On top of everything Rodolfo booked a table for us in an authentic Portuguese restaurant. Every member of our family was delighted with the quality, taste and presentation of our food. We recommend this trip and would like to repeat it again.

Incredible experience in two cities that are part of the origins of Portugal. Our guide Rodolfo went with us giving many details that would have been impossible to know and making the visit mor amazing. I'll leave you with a clue to Google: check why Tea is called that way and not Cha as here, Japan and China?

the our was excellent. Chris was amazing, she never made things feel rushed and had great insights into everything we saw. The trio up to Bom Jesus is easy and well worth doing, the park and gardens are gorgeous. This is a great tour to do on your first day in Braga.

We had an Amazing time with Rodolfo as our guide. He was very knowledgeable and informative. He went out of his way for my wife and daughter and assured we had a great experience. Would recommend him to anyone visiting Portugal.

Beautiful day with a great guide who spoke very good French. Guide attentive to customer needs. Two interesting cities to visit. Choice of a good restaurant for lunch. Great discovery!
