Full description
Meet your private guide at Herculaneum for a 2-hour guided tour of the archeological site. Herculaneum was located closer to Vesuvius than Pompeii, and was buried deeper by the lava, which better preserved the architecture. Admire the colorful murals and other artwork of the homes of wealthy nobles, which are reminders that Herculaneum was also richer than Pompeii. Learn about ancient Roman culture as your guide utilizes the ruins to paint a vivid picture of life during that time. Bring the whole family on this private tour, as its flexible structure makes it ideal for families with children.

Our guide, Mrs. Anna, greeted us on time at the entrance of the excavations holding the sign indicating our name. Having completed the green pass verification operations, he first provided us with socio-historical-cultural information about the end of the city of Herculaneum and the discovery of the archaeological site. He then led us to the points of greatest interest, focusing on those findings that distinguish Herculaneum from other nearby archaeological sites and paying attention to curious details that only an expert eye could have noticed. At the end he accompanied us inside the two small exhibitions on the site. The two hours at our disposal flew by and even our guide was kind enough to finish the tour beyond the scheduled time in order to complete the route in a complete way. I don't know if all the guides are so professional and nice but if you are lucky enough to meet Mrs. Anna you will not regret the cultural investment!

Excellent and charming guide

Our guide, Daniela, was helpful, charming and extremely informative. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the insights she offered into Herculaneum. The only problem was with the emailed meeting instructions sent with a map and a pin from GetYourGuide - the pin was several hundred metres away from the actual location. The conflict between the pin and the described location caused us to be late and a little irritated at the time. If you’re going to use a dropped pin on a map (which, in principle, is an excellent idea then you need to make sure it’s in the right place!

Excellent and informative

Luisa was an utterly fantastic guide. She was really well informed and guided us around the most interesting parts of Herculaneum and really managed to bring the city alive for us. We would highly recommend both this tour and visiting Herculaneum itself, very impressively preserved compared to Pompeii and our guide was so fantastic. It was the little details that really made the tour great!
