This was the most challenging hike I’ve done. Basically the first 3 to 3.5 hours is straight uphill. Thankfully there were numerous periods of rest for the group to recover. The beds weren’t all that comfortable and the sleeping mats weren’t the best but it depends on each persons tolerance! But if you have the energy, go for the Volcán Fuego. I promise it’s a totally different experience being right up close to it vs watching it from afar. The food they provided was good and the hot chocolate in the morning was nice. Guides were super cool but they only spoke Spanish. The price is great for this trip as well.
Everything was very Nice and well organized. Excellent experience

Know before you go
- The hike requires a good level of fitness, agility, and intermediate hiking skills, as the trail is remarkably steep. All operators follow the same standard route.
- During your first day of hiking, there will be three bathroom breaks (please bring your own toilet paper).
- Bundle up and bring sunglasses, spare socks, suitable hiking shoes, hiking gear, sunscreen, toiletries, a flashlight, a pillow, extra water, a 45 to 55 liter backpack, a simple raincoat and a waterproof bag is recommended. Although you can rent your flashlight and backpack before you start your tour, being prepared is more cost-effective.
- As this is a shared excursion, the group will walk alongside at a steady pace. Your cooperation is important to ensure that everyone has a great experience.
- Climbing pole (if you don't have it, you can rent it from us for Q50 quetzals).
