Top 10 things to do in Antalya

Among its many resorts, ruins, beaches, and canyons, you'd have to try pretty hard to be bored in Antalya! This coastal city at the foot of the Taurus Mountains is one of Turkey's most popular tourist destinations. Here are ten reasons why!

The Old Town is a great place to explore independent art galleries and boutiques among monumental structures that survived from the Ottoman, Byzantine, and even Roman empires.

Old Harbor

To Kaleiçi's south lies an ancient Roman harbor dating back to the second century BC. It was used for trade up until the 20th century, and is still a popular yachting marina!

Termessos isn't only one of Turkey's best-preserved ancient cities. At the top of Mount Güllük, it offers an array of rare plant and animal species, as well as spectacular views!

Another impressive ancient site in the Antalya province is the capital of former Pamphylia. Book a day-trip to explore its Agora, Nymphaeum, Roman theater, and many other ruins!

Düden Waterfalls

Unlike most rivers, the waters of the Düden empty into the Mediterranean by cascading over Antalya's coastal cliffs. It's one of the region's most unmissable natural sights!

Another natural wonder within reach is the sun-scorched Cappadocia, renowned for its extraordinary fairy-chimney rock formations!

Yivliminare Mosque

The 14-century mosque's eponymous "fluted minaret" is one of Antalya's most iconic landmarks. Located in Kaleiçi, there's no excuse not to add it to your sightseeing checklist!

Göynük Canyon

The Göynük National Park is yet another of Antalya's natural treasures, but also a recreational hotspot. Hike, swim, or even zipline across its pristine landscape!

The ancient Lycian city was an important trading post under Alexander the Great, but its exquisite beaches are as much an attraction as its extensive ruins.

Antalya Archaeological Museum

One of Turkey's most popular museums tells Antalya's extraordinary history through its excavated relics. With a dedicated children's museum, it won't bore the little ones either!

Planning Your Antalya Visit

Best time to visit?

Antalya is Turkey's most popular coastal resort for a reason – it's one of the country's sunniest cities! Summer temperatures frequently exceed 35°C (95°F), so if you're used to a cooler climate, you'll probably find late spring (April to May) a lot more tolerable.

How many days?

There's a lot to see and do in Antalya, so book a week in order to enjoy the beaches and natural attractions without having to hurry your sightseeing!

What People Are Saying About Antalya

Fantastic day out, enjoying beautiful river and having fun

Very well organised tour, good pick up by friendly and funny driver, upon arrival we were split into language groups, everything was swift and explained well, you could also purchase water shoes if you did not have one. Rafts were comfortable and our guide Emre was very experienced and fun so our rafting was really good. I was a bit afraid when he said he will flip the boat over, but he must have changed his mind seeing this, because all trip was aboard. He made rafting really safe and fun. He did look after me when i almost fell overboard. Boat fights were also fun and our boat won every time. It was really good tour and would do it again.

A fantastic birdwatching day with a flexible and enthusiastic Guide!

Even September is maybe not the best birdwatching month in southern Europe and to watch Brown Fish Owls in Turkey, our Guide did a lot for us to see as many species we wanted to see. Not all was successful, but we tried many alternatives from 9 o`clock am until 2 o`clock in the next morning! Brown Fish Owl we could not see because of several unfavourable conditions like windy weather and picnic people in the area of resting Fish Owls, but we heard Female callings from a valley. The Guide was patient, friendly and very helpful! We saw more than 50 species in one day. Target areas were the mouth of the river Manavgat, the river Manavgat in the Taurus Mountains and the area around Akseki. Thanks a lot!!!!

Incredible! 5 star location, tour and lunch!

Incredible! 5 star location! This is my 2nd visit and a must do if you are visiting Turkey! A short tour of Hierapolis with guide explanation would make the experience much better but the self exploration of the ancient city is still exciting. Ending the day with a swim in Cleopatra's Pool to wash the day's dust was magic.

Great experience, good food and good tour guide

We found the tour perfect amount of information provided by the guide with ample free time for you to explore the areas that interested you individually. It was a long drive however they allow a breakfast stop to break up the trip in the morning and a coffee stop in the afternoon. Lunch was plenty of food with enough time to eat but not waste time there so we could start the drive back to Antalya. We were very happy with the overall tour.

The guides made the day. Very enjoyable!!

We had a great day canyoning and rafting something for all abilities. Very funny, sometimes crazy but safe. Great atmosphere on rafts. Chances to swim, jump from trees, zip wire. Excellent well recommended. Team camaraderie between rafts very good fun.
