What to Expect
Spend 4 days exploring the Angkor region on a private tour from Siem Reap. Enjoy transportation to the various temples and temple complexes in the area, once home to the Khmer Empire and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will also be taken to artist workshops and local farms to see how the residents of the area make a living, be it by woodcarving, silk production, harvesting sugar palm, or fishing. Your trip also includes lunch every day and a special dinner accompanied by a traditional Apsara performance.
Day 1: Angkor Wat - Preah Khan - Neak Pean - Angkor Thom - Bayon (Meals: L)
Depart from your hotel to visit Angkor Wat, the largest religious site in the world. Continue to Preah Khan, the ancient Buddhist University, and then to Neak Pean, an island temple in an ancient reservoir. After lunch at local restaurant, visit the Victoria Gate of Angkor Thom, as well as the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of Leper King. You will also see the enclosure of the Royal Palace, Phimean Akas, Baphuon, and the impressive Bayon Temple, before returning to the city.
Day 2: Ta Prohm - Ta Nei - Artisan - Silk Farm (Meals: L, D)
In the morning, visit a jungle temple, Ta Prohm, which is embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees and featured in scenes in Tomb Raider. Continue to Tanei, another temple in the jungle, and walk along the gate, through the forest, until you reach the TaKeo Temple. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Les Artisans d'Angkor, where you can see stone and woodcarving workshops. Spend time shopping at the markets before heading to a silk farm to learn about how clothes and accessories are made. In the evening, enjoy dinner at local restaurant with a traditional Apsara performance.
Day 3: Banteay Srei - Kbal Spean - Banteay Samre (Meals: L)
In the morning, visit Banteay Srei, the exquisite "Women’s Citadel." Continue to Kbal Spean, trekking up the hill to see a waterfall and an 11th-century carving of Hindu deities on the river bed. Enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing to a farm to watch farmers produce sugar palm. Then visit the Banteay Samre Temple before returning to the your hotel.
Day 4: Beng Mealea - Kampong Khleang Fishing Community (Meals: L)
In the morning, drive to the Beng Melea Temple, one of the more mysterious temples of Angkor, which is overrun by vegetation, After a picnic lunch there continue on to Kampong Khleang, the largest fishing community on the Tonle Sap Lake. Here you will see the stilt houses, fishermen, smoked fished production, floating village, and more, before your tour ends.
