Following breakfast, you'll travel one more hour to the hike starting point, at 4,850 meters. From there you will start your 3.5-kilometer trek to Rainbow Mountain over both flat and uphill terrain. During your hike, you will enjoy amazing views and encounters with wild alpacas, llamas, and vicuñas. Once you reach the top at 5,010 meters, you can make use of some free time to take a break, and if the weather is good, you will be able to enjoy views over Rainbow Mountain. You'll go downhill to the starting spot for another hour. Then, take transportation back to Cusipata where a local lunch will be waiting for you. Once you finish your buffet lunch you will travel back to Cusco, where you will arrive between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM at Plaza de Armas.

Your professional tour guide will pick you up at your homestay, hostel or hotel in Cusco between 4:00 AM and 4:30 AM. After a 2-hour drive, you will arrive in Mollepata where we will stop for breakfast and pick up water and snacks for the trek. After breakfast travel one more hour to Soraypampa. Once you arrive at this high mountain plateau you will be able to see the beautiful mountains Apu Salkantay 20400 feet (6230 meters) above sea level and Humantay 17225 feet (5250 meters) above sea level. After a short time preparing your day pack you will start the 2-hour trek to Humantay Lake. The way up to Humantay Lake is steep however your group is small and your guide will let you take your time to enjoy the trek.  Enjoy the views of Humantay Lake and enjoy an optional small climb above the lake to the right or left where you can enjoy a panoramic view.  Next, you will have the easy part of your trek. Go downhill to Soraypampa for another hour. Then you will take your private transportation back to Mollepata where a local lunch will be waiting for you. Once you finish your buffet lunch you will go back to Cusco arriving between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM at the drop-off near Plaza de Armas.

9. Puerto Maldonado: 4-Day Tambopata Rainforest Tour

Day 1: Start the tour with pickup from Puerto Maldonado Airport. Your guide will be waiting for you right in front of the exit with a sign with your name on it so you can find them easily. After a short office visit, head to the river where a boat will be awaiting you to take you to the lodge. Check in to your bungalow then set off for your first jungle tour. Walk for about 2 kilometers through the jungle searching for monkeys, brown agoutis, and butterflies as you learn about the trees and plants which grow there. When it gets dark, begin your night adventure on the river to go in search of caimans and capybaras. Enjoy this exciting tour with the opportunity to learn all about the animals and take pictures.  Day 2: On the next day, visit Lake Sandoval which is located in the heart of Tambopata National Reserve. Here, observe the many bird species, caimans, turtles, monkeys, and giant otters that live here. Return back to your accommodation for a short rest before embarking on your next night activity. Later, head into the rainforest at night, following your guide through the dark jungle in search of night monkeys, tarantulas, frogs, insects, and other nocturnal animals.  Day 3: On day 3, embark on a kayaking adventure, heading downstream to the Monkey Island. When you land on the island, go for a walk searching for monkeys and observe them in their native environment. Enjoy the opportunity to feed and take pictures with them. After lunch, visit a local indigenous family and learn about their culture and way of life.  Day 4: Start your final day pretty early and head to the clay lick to see the parakeets, parrots and 2 species of small macaws. On the way back, search for sloths. After breakfast, your guide will take you to the perfect spot for bird watching and take you for piranha sport fishing. By around 11 AM, head back to the main office from where you will be taken to the airport or bus station and your tour concludes.

10. 2-day Colca Canyon Trek Tour

Day 1 This amazing adventure starts very early in the morning. We will pick you up from your accommodation located in the city of Arequipa, and then, we will go straight to the Valley of Colca, in a journey of circa 3 hours. We are going to make a short stop to have breakfast at Chivay. We will continue the route towards the Condor’s Cross (3,800 m.a.s.l.) to watch the one of the most amazing natural wonders: the condor’s flying. Later, we are going to until reach the Pampas of San Miguel (3,300 m.a.s.l.). From this point, the hike begins to the bottom of the canyon, for along 4.6 miles (3 hours). Upon arriving to the town of San Juan de Chuccho, we will enjoy a well-deserved rest with lunch. Later, the trek continues through the towns of Cosñirhua y Malata for 2.5 more miles (2.5 hours). We will arrive to Sangalle (2,225 m), a spectacular oasis where we will spend the night. Here, you can enjoy a bath in the pool, and having dinner by night. Day 2 Very early in the morning (5:00 AM), we will start the hike of 2.5 miles ascending the canyon slope, for around 3 hours, admiring the sunrise with incredible views, until we reach the town of Cabanaconde (3,230 m). After breakfast, our transport will take us to the town of Chivay, making short stops to the viewpoint of Antahuilque, with beautiful views to Andean terraces and the valley of Colca. Then, we will visit the town of Maca, with a panoramic visit to its colonial church. We are going to have time to visit the hot springs of Yanque (optional*). This powerful hot water pools have healing properties as well as relaxing effects. Then, we are going to enjoy a tasty lunch (optional*) at Chivay. During our way back to the city of Arequipa, we will have the opportunity to pass near the National Reserve Pampa Cañahuas, home of different types of camelids such as llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. Arriving in Arequipa, we will drop you off at your hotel.

It is a superb view. I went in early January, but it was OK with light clothes. It is a well-maintained tourist destination.
