Ancient Kourion

First, visit the Kourion archeological site. Enjoy a guided tour and discover the many beautiful mosaics as well as the Greco-Roman amphitheater with breathtaking views over the bay. Continue to Paphos and explore Paphos Harbor on your own and stop for lunch at one of the many local restaurants. If you wish, make your way to Paphos Castle or pay a visit to the House of Dionysus and admire the mosaics. On the return journey, make a stop at the Cyprus Delights shop at Yeroskipou to taste traditional sweets like Loukoumia. Finally, discover Aphrodite's Rock, named after the Greek goddess of love and beauty before you return to the pickup point.

Your first stop will be the ancient Greek city-kingdom of Kourion which dates to the 10th century BC. You will see the many excavations including the complex of Eustolios and admire the magnificent amphitheater with its spectacular views over Episkopi Bay. Continue with a stop at Kolossi and the medieval castle, a former Crusader stronghold free time and optional visit the Castle ( entrance fees not included in the price). From there, drive to Limassol arriving in the old town, close to the medieval castle, Limassol Marina, and the market area where you will have free time for exploring, shopping and lunch (not included). On the way back stop at the Rock of Aphrodite where, according to legend, the Goddess of Love and Beauty was born from the waves .

Our first stop is Kourion, one of the most important archaeological sites on the island. There you will have a chance to see the ancient Greco-Roman theatre where gladiator games were held. Next stop is Petra tou Romiou, which is the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of beauty and love. According to Greek mythology, Aphrodite was emerged from the sea, in white foam that brought her from Kythera in Greece to Cyprus. An ancient legend states that anyone who swims around the Rock will be granted eternal beauty! Time will be given for photos before we proceed with our excursion. Once in Pafos, you will have the chance to visit the House of Dionysos, which is famous for its unique mosaics. You will also have free time to relax and enjoy the area surrounding Pafos Harbour, one of the most visited and beautiful tourist resorts on the island. At the end we will visit Tombs of The Kings included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. The monumental underground tombs are carved out of solid rock and date back to the Hellenistic and Roman periods.

On our way from Paphos we will visit the Ayia Paraskevi Church in Yeroskipou. This church is worldwide recognized as an extremely significant example of Byzantine architecture. In Yeroskipou we will have the opportunity to sample and buy the local made delights. We will then discover the archaeological remains of Kourion - which was one of the island’s most important city-kingdoms in antiquity - are of the most impressive on the island, and excavations have unearthed many significant finds, which can be viewed at the site. The tour will continue to the Omodos village where we will have a lunch in a traditional Cyprus tavern. Wine tasting in a traditional winery will follow. On the way back we will stop at the Aphrodite’s Rock - Petra tou Romiou, the legendary birthplace of the ancient Greek goddess Aphrodite. Lunch is included in the price.

We will also show you Lefkara Village. This village is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lefkara is known for its handmade lace and silverware. Picturesque stone streets and beautiful Cypriot architecture. This village is the Birthplace of "Lefkaritiko" - a special technique of weaving lace, invented in Cyprus.

Most likely founded in neolithic times due to its strategic position high on a bluff, it became a permanent settlement in about the 13th century BC, when Mycenaean colonisers established themselves here. There’s a small visitors centre where you can see a scale model of the whole site, which will help orientate your visit.

Cyprus is all rolling hills dotted with pretty villages. On this adults-only tour, you'll see where a legend was born, visit the ruins of Kourion, venture to the village of Omodos and cap off the day with a wine tasting. Then, we'll head to mountain-fringed Omodos, where you'll enjoy a local lunch in a family-run taverna and have free time to wander around skinny cobbled streets lined with Byzantine buildings. It's Eva's favourite village. She says, ‘The charm of the stone houses, the tranquillity and peacefulness. It's as if it has sprung from a fairytale. I love dropping into one of the cafés and seeing locals have philosophical discussions, political arguments and a bit of gossip.' Plus, there's a winery tour, where you'll learn all about sweet commandaria wine – one of the oldest varieties in the world.
