Our guide was knowledgeable. She didn't repeat the same information I heard on my previous 4 tours. She knew the area and how to navigate us in it. She was friendly and kept the group on schedule without making me feel rushed. The tour meets and starts at Kobuk the best tea shop ever. The teas were unique and extremely tasty. The pastries were decadent (yummy!!!) I returned with a family member to purchase the tea I tasted. Family and I returned to Gelato ice cream shop to purchase the amazing flavors I tasted during the tour. During the tour food portions were extremely tiny, the exception was Kobuk whose portions were about what I expected.

Full description

Starting in the present day we will “wonder” back through the past to the late 1800s, learning about Anchorage and Alaska through the stories of the individuals who lived here.

Meet up with your local Alaskan guide who will regale you with their storytelling skills where they share untold Alaskan history, and tell about unique Alaskan characters you won't get on other tours.

Walk a bit between the stops and get a feel for the city. Rest assured knowing they'll be plenty of chances to sit and relax as well. Visits to the restaurants and shops will last about 15 to 20 minutes each.

Sample a wide range of food and drinks significant to Anchorage's past and present, from seafood to ice cream to Russian dumplings to locally brewed beer. Relax, soak up the atmosphere, and pick up local insights from your guide. The tour ends a few blocks away from the meeting point at a local eatery.

Shannon was an absolutely amazing guide. The food and drinks were tasty and enough to fill you up and fuel us for our next adventure. Her narrative of the city was very educational and loved hearing her own personal history being a fourth generation Alaskan. Highly recommend this tour.
