Great day trip from Huaraz. The company it was with was Esperanza Travel. Bus was comfortable and guide spoke both English and spanish. The guide had poles and ponchos you could buy. Would recommend taking poles for those steeper sections in the last km where it got tough because of the altitude. You need to take your own lunch and snacks up to the lagoon. The sun was also super strong, despite putting on suncream would recommend to apply more than you need. At the base, near the buses there were toilets for 1soles and on the way down there was a man selling drinks.

Full description

You will depart from the city of Huaraz between 5:00 AM and 5:30 AM, embarking on an exhilarating adventure to Lagoon 69. This beautiful lake is nestled beneath majestic mountains and is part of Huascaran National Park. Along the way to the lake, you'll traverse the stunning Llanganuco Gorge, where you'll encounter other enchanting lakes in the area.

Your hiking journey begins at Cebollapampa, situated at 12,631 feet above sea level, where you'll ascend on a zigzag trail leading you to Lagoon 69. This incredible body of water, with its brilliant blue hue, sits at an altitude of 15,255 feet.

Surrounded by the imposing snow-capped peaks of Chacraraju and Nevado Pisco, their majestic silhouettes reflected in the serene waters create a truly awe-inspiring and unforgettable landscape. Finally, you'll return to the city of Huaraz, concluding this remarkable adventure.

The guide Carlos and the entire experience was superb. Everything was well organized and clear from start to the beginning. A little on the pricier side considering the breakfast and the park entrance fee were not included. The lagoon 69 is well worth visiting, but be sure to acclimatise and be ready for a brutal hike, especially the last kilometer.
