Dublin: Guided Sights and Pints Tour

3. Dublin: Guided Sights and Pints Tour

Following Irish Independence, a few men sat down and thought about what they would do with Dublin. Following much intense discussion and with the preservation of the British and Irish cultures in mind, it was born into the city it is today. Since then, Dublin has become a symbol of reconciling Ireland's British past with its Irish future. The British Trinity College (with its Protestant legacy) has produced Oscar Wilde and Jonathan Swift, and Dublin's pubs have produced writers from the Irish tradition, such as Patrick Kavanagh and Brendan Behan. This tour is, therefore, a tribute to Dublin's dual personality, and the pub door will be the boundary between the two worlds. Get comfortable in a few warm pubs throughout the tour where you will discuss important aspects of history, including Irish origins, the Irish language, and the Celtic Tiger. With this in mind, you will pop into a great pub every 20-40 minutes. Besides the history lessons, you'll learn about beer and the Irish pub, and will also partake in/witness an activity that the Irish are renowned for, conversation.

In the courtyard of Dublin Castle, your footfalls will echo through the castle’s 800-year history. Or maybe you are here on a business trip and in between conference events day after day, with very little time to actually see the city? Or you have just a few hours to experience Dublin before your connecting flight takes off. Why not do it with a private guide? This 3-hour Fantastic Tour of Dublin is designed for those who are short on time but hungry to get to know Dublin for what it is – a city with beautiful and sometimes troubled history, a city founded by strangers and invaded by strangers in the old times, that is so friendly and accepting of strangers today.

The online booking worked well. I found the closest pick-up point quite easily. The bus was clean and well maintained and the driver was excellent. I particularly appreciated his personable approach to ticket issuing and to people in general but his commentary, jokes and quotes added significant value to the experience. The bus route allowed me to get a great overview of and orientation of the city for later exploration.

Great tour! We first did the whole tour and then used the bus as a means of transport! Top and only to be recommended! Super friendly bus driver!
