Well-known and unknown stories about, and perspectives on, Amsterdam's past give an impression of how Amsterdam has formed and is still developing. Here you see our collection that gives you a multifaceted picture of the many histories of the city of Amsterdam. Classic icons from the city collection by Lingelbach and Rembrandt alongside artists such as Raquel Haver, Natasja Kensmil and Brian Elstak. Since March 2022, the Amsterdam Museum can be found on the Amstel, in the building of the Hermitage. During a large-scale renovation of the monumental Burgerweeshuis, the Amsterdam Museum will find its temporary home here. With a completely new range of exhibitions, public programmes and children's activities. Here, the Amsterdam Museum will display an entirely new collection presentation that, besides the traditional history of Amsterdam, also offers plenty of space for dissenting voices and lesser-known and more recent histories of the city. Exhibitions Temporary exhibitions also give the floor to residents and lovers of the city to show 'their Amsterdam'. With well-known objects from the collection and new or less well-known works, the Amsterdam Museum on the Amstel will show you that there is no single history of the city.

Pick up a backpack full of magical tools at our shop on the Waterlooplein and set out on an unforgettable adventure. A secret society has challenged you to uncover the identity of one of their most famous members. Follow the treasure map and a series of clues left in an ancient book in order to unlock a treasure box and discover his real name. The treasure map will lead you to five must-see places in the city center. At each location, you will learn about Golden Age Amsterdam and solve a challenge to unlock a lock on the treasure box. Open all the locks to solve the mystery and return to our shop to claim your prize. The game takes 2 hours, but we encourage you to take your time to explore along the way. The treasure map also indicates great places to stop for drinks, photos, and local specialties! All bookings are private. You will play with your own group - if there are other people they will play separately. We don't recommend playing alone. The game was designed for adults, but it is suitable for children 7+ when they play with their parents. Please note that part of the game goes through the Red Light District.
