Full description

Immerse yourself in the culture of the Netherlands on a tour through the jewels of the Dutch countryside. Visit a cheese producer, a clog factory, a fishing village, and see the iconic windmills.

Start your tour at Amsterdam’s Central Station and head to the first destination of the day, Zaanse Schans. Admire the typical Dutch windmills of the town, and learn about how they are still used today.

Next, drive to the Waterland area to arrive at the second stop of the tour, Edam. Walk around some of the town’s most historical sites, including the town square where the famous cheese market used to take place.

Then, head to Volendam to visit a local cheese producer and learn about the production of Edam and Gouda cheeses. Head towards a clog factory next to discover the secrets of this typical Dutch shoe.

Finally, travel back in time to the 17th century as you wander through the fishermen’s houses in the Marken, and explore this quintessential fishing village.

A very nice experience to see the countryside, and the places we went to were very very beautiful. However the guide wasn't that professional in the sense of managing the group and giving information as it relates to herself and her comments way too much and there were people who fell behind and she didn't pay much attention

Our guide was great. He was funny and gave the day that certain something. However, I have to honestly say, I would not do this tour again. In the cheese dairy, I would have expected at least to see how the cheese is made, even if only part of the process, so we only received a description. The places you see are quite nice, but an individual trip to Gouda is much more exciting than Edam z. B .. The only thing was the windmills which were very interesting and nice to look at. All in all, the guide and the part with the windmills were worth the trip.

This was an enjoyable excursion, taking us out of Amsterdam and into the countryside. The choice of locations and the timing dedicated to them was just right. We were met at the designated starting point by our extremely welcoming and informative guide. The itinerary was fully explained and we were put at our ease. We have experienced walking groups where we were left behind due to a mobility issue but this didn’t happen here and we truly felt a part of the group.
