Amsterdam: Life of Anne Frank and World War II Walking Tour
- Duration: 2 hours
Amsterdam has a few magnificent sights, but mostly you can expect a charismatic cityscape, eccentric shopping, and a whole load of attractions unlike anything else! Here are five of its biggest draws.
Not only the most important square in the city, but the whole country! Here you'll see the Royal Palace, National Monument, and 15th century Nieuwe Kerk, New Church.
First time in Amsterdam? You might be surprised to find the Red Light District is actually quite civilized! Go during the day to check out historic buildings and quirky shops.
There's little to see from outside but huge queues, so if you want to learn about the famous diarist's attempts to evade the Nazis, book a tour with skip-the-line access!
Museumplein boasts three of the best art museums in Europe: the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk, and the Van Gogh Museum. They're worth seeing even if you don't enter any of them!
Around the corner from Museumplein is one of Amsterdam's most beloved parks. If it's a sunny day, push your aching feet just a little further to end your walking tour here.
Amsterdam is small and flat, but the labyrinthine layout of the city's canals and narrow streets mean even the shortest of walking tours will last at least two hours (although they're unlikely to last more than three). That said, you'd probably end up walking a lot longer trying to navigate the streets without an expert. The Dutch capital is an easy city to get lost in!
If you're visiting Amsterdam on the cheap then you might choose to opt for a free walking tour. If so, remember your guide does this for a living so bring some cash in order to pay what you think it was worth at the end. Otherwise, be prepared to shuffle away sheepishly!

Amsterbike tour of central Amsterdam was definitely the best experience I had in the city of Amsterdam. I had the chance to explore the city by bike, cycling around the canals and some of the most interesting spots of the city centre and, moreover, during this bike tour to learn about the history of this beautiful city, its hidden gems and its current situation. It was a really pleasant tour with my guide, Red, who is a very polite, pleasant, knowledgeable and eager to share his stories about the city person and of course a diligent cyclist! I recommend this tour to everyone in order to have a unique Dutch experience by bike!
Przewodnik okazal sie osoba bardzo obeznana w temacie, opowiadal bardzo ciekawe historie z zycia miasta. Wyjasnil dlaczego domy sa krzywe, opowiadal o problemach z narkotykami w dwudziestym wieku, o poczatkach prostytucji, o znanych osobach z czerwonej dzielnicy, pokazal najstarszy sklep z condonami, jeden z najstarszych Kofi shopow.
Aanrader!!
Great tour through the red light district. As I was the only one booked the tour I even got a private tour. Stan showed me the most important spots and told the whole background and history of prostitution and coffee shops in Amsterdam. We even stopped briefly at a coffee shop and he explained everything to me in detail how it works. Stan is a great tour guide and I would definitively book a tour again the next time I am in Amsterdam.
Great story with funny and interesting facts on the way! A very nice way to visit a bit of Amsterdam!
