Experience some of the icons of The Netherlands on a half-day bike tour of Zaanse Schans, a picturesque open air museum in North Holland.
Following a transfer from central Amsterdam by coach, you will cycle the scenic lanes of the Zaan region. Your bikes will be waiting for your on arrival. Your 1.5-hour cycle ride will take you along the banks of the Zaan River through some of Holland’s rich industrial heritage.
As you pedal, your guide will describe the history of the Zaan, pointing out windmills from the 17th century, old factories, and traditional green wooden houses. After approximately 90 minutes, stop to enjoy a picnic with panoramic views of the old windmills on the pancake flat landscape.
Next, tour a clog factory to learn how the agricultural shoes of wood were made in former times. Continue to a cheese farm to learn about the various cheeses of the region, and sample a selection before your return to Amsterdam.
