There were 5 of us in the group so made it easy to get around and gather around to hear Katie's commentary. This is a great tour to do when you first arrive in Amsterdam so you have some smarts for the rest of your time in this amazing city, and avoid rookie tourist mistakes.
*Just wrapped up a tour of the Red Light District with a small group, led by Aarre Brenton from AARRE SAFARI — he was fantastic. Aarre actually lives in the district and is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about the area. The tour was very different from what I expected — in a good way. Aarre shared fascinating history and hilarious stories about the neighborhood, many of which had nothing to do with the famous red-lit windows. He took what could be an uncomfortable or one-dimensional topic and turned it into a much broader and genuinely engaging experience. I came away with a deeper appreciation for the district’s history, culture, and complexity. Highly recommend this tour and guide — a fun, thoughtful, and well-paced experience.*
