The trip was excellent. In 1 day you get to see a lot. In Zaanse Schans, you get an introduction about the park, the windmills, and get to see how clogs are made, then you have 1 hour to walk around and make photos. Afterwards, in Edam, you get to know a bit of the history of the town, and you are supoosed to get to see the cheese market in Edam (unfortunately it was closed the day we visited). Before heading to Volendam, we visited a cheese factory and it was very insightful to get to see how cheese is made, there are people with traditional clothing and they have a wide variety of cheeses. Last but not least, we visited Marken, we had a walk in the town and get to know a bit of history and the floods that the town had to survive. I find this activity, a great way to explore the Dutch countryside. The guide knew a lot about the history of each town and Dutch culture in general.

Depart Amsterdam by luxury bus on this exciting tour and head north of the city to see the historic windmills of Zaanse Schans on the banks of the river Zaan. Explore the traditional 17th-century houses and a collection of beautifully preserved windmills from the nation’s industrial heritage. Continue on to visit Edam, a beautiful town known worldwide for its cheese. Enjoy a cheese tasting and an exciting clog demonstration. Before the end of the day, go to Volendam and Marken, passing many authentic polders, the name given to land reclaimed from the sea. Wander down narrow streets, past colorful houses and visit the harbors full of fishing boats. You will have some free time to shop for souvenirs and sample the local fish specialties. Back in Amsterdam, you will be dropped off at the meeting point.

It was a great tour and our guide Bianco was lovely. The town of Marken was literally a waste of time. Walked, only around the town and then went on our way to Zaanse Schans. They should remove Marken to allow more time for Zaanse Schans. Not enough time here! We stopped in Zaanse Schans last and had to miss the wooden shoe demonstration because we wanted to see the inner makings of a windmill before it closed. There were so many lovely things to do in Zaanse Schans and sooo little time! Very disappointing! Very rushed! SERIOUSLY, remove Marken!
