Having arrived by Eurostar we walked across to GVB office by the Central Station. The man was very helpful when we tried to redeem our voucher for a 72 hour pass. We used the trams every day including going back to the station for our return to London. The "drivers" were considerate to us elderly tourists. One passenger also showed us the way to the start of a self guided walk. Love the trams as easy to know when to get off and see a lot of the city as most trams go to the Central station.

The castle and gardens(+music and water features) were very nice. Since we were a little late booking, I was only able to book tickets without an audio guide. Since it was very hot that day and the rush was very high, it was completely sufficient for us (2 adults and 2 children). It is advisable to wear good shoes, sunscreen and sunglasses! Bring drinks and a little something to eat with you. If we come back, we will book a tour and rent a set of wheels, or drive a small train. The garden is huge and very nicely maintained. Unfortunately, we never knew when/at what time the next fountain showed its show. (But it wasn't a problem for us either) When should plan a lot of time. At some point we'll be back.

Could been improved with better signage

More signs needed to know which line to queue and also how queing times. Also not enough signage throughout Versailes Palace and gardens to let you know where historical sights are, so very confusing and long walks going the wrong way! Not enough staff. Think it is about time that this was done. Also could they not put signage in English on the objects inside the Palace. Also problems with the printed ticket at one point they were not going to let us in after queing for 2 hours and 15 minutes!! We argued and eventually were let in, but also had problems the next day as we had a 2 day pass. They kept saying we had the wrong ticket, and we had to keep insisting that we did have the right ticket and they admitted after checking again that we did have the right ticket. We had to do this with 4 ticket inspection staff - not a very nice introduction to Versailes!!
