Full description

Book a skip-the-line ticket to the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam to discover how Amsterdam became the greatest harbor in mainland Europe. Be inspired by one of the world’s biggest maritime collections, artifacts, and art.

Explore the National Maritime Museum in the heart of Amsterdam. The building was built in 1656 as a former storehouse for the Admiralty. Step back in time by boarding a replica 1749 VOC East Indiaman ship named Amsterdam.

Experience a ship from the so-called Dutch golden age and see life-like displays about sea travel. Squeeze into the captain’s quarters, fire a cannon, or hang in a sailor’s hammock.

Board into the ship’s bow and you can take an exciting VR voyage over central Amsterdam. Experience life in a bustling city harbor at the beginning of the 17th century.

Make sure you get there early! You won’t see the full museum at a good pace, if you get there 2 hours before. 1 - 2 o’ clock is a good time. Definitely go on the ship.. a cool and great peace of art and depiction of pirate ships or ships made during that time. Definitely visit the cafe too great food and drink or snack.

There is simply so much to do and see here that you'll need to allow yourself a full day really. There were also interesting interactive things on the 'docked' sailing ship for the children to do down in the hold. Over all a highlight for visitors to Amsterdam and an asset to the city!

This Museum is a must see when visiting Amsterdam. It is easy to navigate around and the breadth and depth of the collection is amazing. The layout of the exhibits and their interactive nature is outstanding. The food in the cafe was delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful.
