The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam is the most important museum of modern and contemporary art and design in the Netherlands. Situated on Museumplein, where it first opened in 1895, the Stedelijk is a neighbor to the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum. Having undergone extensive renovation, the historic Stedelijk building has been expanded with the addition of a futuristic new wing. The addition has been a huge hit with visitors since the facility’s reopening in 2012. Your skip-the-line ticket to the Stedelijk grants you priority access to a collection of 90,000 artifacts. Admire extraordinary works by world-renowned artists, including a great number of pieces by major 20th-century Dutch artists. Key movements in the world of art and design that are featured include Bauhaus, Amsterdam School, De Stijl, CoBrA, Abstract Expressionism, Pop art, Minimal art, and Conceptual art. Artists represented include Appel, Cézanne, Chagall, Dumas, Kandinsky, Kienholz, De Kooning, Koons, Malevich, Matisse, Mondriaan, Picasso, Pollock, Rietveld, Sottsass, and Warhol, among others.

Visiting this museum, I was not sure what we would see or experience. It was easy going and interesting. The staff at the entrance were helpful and friendly. However, having a security guard follow us through the museum being the only other racially diverse visitors on the day was unnecessary and ruined the visit.

    I don't think you need a skip-the-line ticket here.

Perhaps we got lucky and simply went when it was not busy, but we were there during the busiest time of year (early May). This is clearly the least popular museum out of the "big three" - the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk, and the Van Gogh Museum. There was no line and not really many people there. My family is very into modern art and the pieces there were quite meaningful to me! They do have a couple of Van Goghs, a Rothko, Picassos, and many other recognizable artists in their permanent collection. I found the current exhibits to be really excellent. The cafe is overpriced, but you expect that from any museum.

    Excellent museum!

My fiance and I had an excellent visit. The meseum and its works are beautiful, and the audio-assited tour device was perfect. However, we went on a weekday afternoom, and there was absolutely no line. We walked right up and in, so there was no need to pay for a skip the line ticket
