Full description

At ARTIS-Micropia you’ll experience the smallest and most successful of life forms. Every human being carries approximately 1.5 kilograms of microbes, as you’ll learn with your entry ticket. Microbes are everywhere, and they shape your world. You can experience this straight away through microscopes that make it possible for you to see how living microbes move around, eat, and reproduce. You can navigate through the habitat of extremophiles, which are microorganisms that are able to survive the most extreme circumstances. And with a body scan, you come face-to-face with your very own microorganisms. After a visit to ARTIS-Micropia, you’ll probably never see yourself, or the world, in the same way again.

My daughter loves science so there was not way she was missing out on the only museum of it's type in the world. It really is a fascinating museum even for those that are not science junkies like me. It is wheelchair friendly and accessible. It has an interactive element for younger kids but it's not the focus. Not really suitable for very young children although very 'friendly' for them I just don't think it can capture their attention for very long. Highly recommended.

Price with 16€ per person is okay, but a little bit too much for the museum. The pictures and illustrations are however, very good and it's very interesting to read the information. Still it's really detailed and many creatures are being discriped, which is why this is only for people who are really interested in microbiology. Great visit!

Helpful staff explained in perfect English what to expect from Micropia. Free lockers to leave your bags & coats so you can participate in all the activities. Lots of information displayed & scientists on hand to answer any questions. Enjoyed the digital scanner which detects the many microbes present both on & in the body. Be prepared for some alarming results! Good fun for all ages and great value for money. Hoping a similar exhibition will open in UK soon.
