Great VfM. Step outside the airport terminal and look for the red buses. We found a 397 bus already waiting. The transport was clean and it had space for our bags. We showed our phone tickets to the driver and that was it. 8 stops later and we were at our destination. 5 minutes walk to the hotel and job done. Would recommend this option especially if one of the stops is near your hotel.

I’m usually one to take Uber from the airport but I refused to pay over €60 for one way - especially when my hotel check in wasn’t for a few more hours. The bus was the fastest form of public transportation to my hotel. It was very easy to find when leaving the airport. Returning back to the airport, the QR code still worked without any issues. I’m so glad I did this. I was able to put the money I saved on Uber to other activities on our trip.

Full description

The Amsterdam Airport Express (busline 397) provides a quick and easy transfer from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to the city center of Amsterdam. Departing approxamately every 10 minutes from bus platform B17. This bus takes you directly to Amstelveenseweg, Olympisch Stadion, Haarlemmermeerstation, Emmastraat, Concertgebouw, Museumplein (Rijksmuseum), Leidseplein or Busstation Elandsgracht. From there, you can get to many hotels in Amsterdam very easily. If you travel at night the same bus N97 goes once per hour between 01:00 and 05:00 hrs both directions. Sit back and relax during the 25 minutes trip while you charge your smartphone, use the free WiFi and check your bus stop on one of the screens. The bus has a low entry so you can bring your luggage inside the bus and keep it with you. For children 4-11 years you can buy a Kids Day ticket for only 1 euro from the busdriver. Under the age of 4, children travel for free. Know before you go

  • Services between 5:30 AM and 7:00 PM run approximately every 10 minutes. During other time periods, services run 4 to 6 times per hour. Between 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM, services run once an hour in both directions
  • Your return ticket must be used within 14 days of the date of your arrival journey
  • Tickets are valid on bus lines 397 and N97
  • For children between 4 and 11 years old, you can buy a Kids Day ticket for only 1 euro from the bus driver. Children under the age of 4 travel for free
