If you want a lot of after dark time, you need to check on sunset times. We took the 8 pm in early May and there was only about a half hour or less of dark time. There were not as many places lit up as expected. Was a good tour though.

It was a great cruise; the boat had large windows and a glass roof. There was a small outdoor area that you can go out either for a view or the toilet. The boat driver spoke on the microphone about his experiences of Amsterdam and it was nice to hear some personal opinions instead of just listening to the audio guide. Try to pick a time nearer to sunset so you can see the sun going down and the sky going pink.

Yes, this is a bus tour but the bus ride is not too long and you are given good information as you travel out of Amsterdam. All of the various stops are interesting and the demonstrations are excellent. The presenters are knowledgeable and personable. Our tour guides, Mattea and Augustine, managed the group very capably, keeping us on schedule without making us feel rushed. This was a very enjoyable tour to see a few windmills and a little Dutch culture.
