The Mulhacén with its 3480m is the roof of the Sierra Nevada and the Iberian Peninsula. On a 2-day route we guide you to its summit where we can enjoy unbeatable views and sensations. To make it more bearable, we will spend the night at the Poqueira refuge located at an altitude of 2500m. Day 1 Departure from the Portillo basin in Capileira. We will cross the pine forest where in its highest part, we will see the twisted pine trees with very curious shapes due to the forces of the air and the snow. We will go up to the Poqueira refuge, where we will spend the night and rest before ascending Mulhacén the next day. Day 2 After breakfast we will ascend the Mulhacén River to reach the Caldera lagoon at about 3000m high. After a short rest we will begin the attack to the summit. On our ascent, we will stop at Collado del Ciervo, where we will take a breather and marvel at the views before our eyes. The impressive walls of the Alcazaba and Mulhacén, with the Mosca lagoon at their feet, will occupy our entire field of vision. Once we have conquered its summit, we will descend along the southern slope towards the Portillo basin in Capileria. * If you are in good physical condition, this climb can be done in one day depending on the snow conditions.

Wow, this hike was incredible. I was nervous because I live in Los Angeles and only hike the surrounding hills, but Harry was very helpful in explaining tips for walking with snowshoes and poles on the different terrain (hard snow, slush, ice, as well as with differing angles for the ascent/descent). It is a challenging hike, especially when needing to kick the snowshoes into ice for grip, but also because of the elevation. For reference I’m a 43 year old woman that lifts weights regularly and hikes (hills— not mountains!). From the top we could see Africa— the mountains of Morocco! If you’re hiking in the winter, wear layers to adjust as needed. Harry packed an awesome picnic for the group— and even made a vegan meal for me due to my dietary restrictions. It’s a long day of hiking and you’re pretty exhausted by the time you go down, but worth it. Also, if you don’t want to go the entire way, you don’t have to. Harry was the best. 10/10 recommend this hike.

Carlos was a friendly, knowledgeable and well organised guide. He had a very relaxed personality which suited us well. The itinerary was interesting and the villages varied. Carlos greatly increased our knowledge of the area.

We had a great time visiting several Alpujerra villages. Our driver was great at explaining the history and culture of the region. The whole area is beautiful, people are welcoming and did not mind chatting with us.

Very nice; with small group, enthusiastic nice guide who knew the area well, super tasty food and drinks. Enough free time. Recommended!

I liked everything ♥️ The landscape, the food. The guide was very friendly and told interesting stories about Alpujarra.
