The train ride up and down from Alpnach was beautiful. The station is well organized and the staff accommodating and helpful. The views on the way up are stunning, and the top is nothing short of spectacular. There are eating/dining options at the top and they were reasonably priced for a location like this. We travelled up with friends who have young children (ages 3 and 13 months) and had a great time walking the mountaintop pathways together. Stairs and handrails are well maintained and pathways also well kept. I would suggest the train up and the gondola for the trip back down if you can make it work with your transportation at the bottom.
