We registered for an English speaking tour. The one other couple in our group spoke Portugese and Spanish as a second language. The poor tour guide had to give her information to them in Spanish, then repeat the entire talk in English (her second or third language, which was at times very difficult to understand). This was stressful and extremely unfair to our tour guide. The first couple quit halfway through the tour due to the extra time and pace of our tour. We did not get the full experience we where hoping for.

Considering our tour guide was new to the job, I found her very sweet and has the potential to be a great historian. Her English improved as the tour went on and she had a great sense of humour. The work being done on the castle was impressive. I was a little disappointed that the moors were depicted as white in the paintings when they were in fact black Africans suggesting there is a shame around the truth. Also the word Moor was never used. So that part, a very important part had been whitewashed. It is a part of history, a great history that should be embraced not hidden. However, I was impressed with what I did learn and felt proud of what the moors achieved and the knowledge they imparted to the world.

Very entertaining visit, exceeded our expectations. The guide, Neiva, knew the place without a doubt and made the tour very enjoyable, pending at all times to stand in the shade because it was sunny. She spoke a little fast but it's a topic she brought up at the beginning of the tour, which we appreciated and for that reason I mention it explicitly, we were able to stop her at any time to clarify any explanation. We loved the place as well as the related history.
