The reviews are quiet rough I have to say I was skeptical. We did it anyway and It is a lovely day trip. The ferry is handy enough, very easy to get from Alicante and from Tabarca. If you have children and don’t want to queue for 30 min to wait for the ferry in the middle of summer it is not a trip for you. There are plenty of aqua taxis that might be better. Also, it is the middle of the summer, of course it is going to be hot. Enjoyed Tabarca so much. The beach is pristine and you can swim quiet deep and still see the bottom. You can rent two chairs and an umbrella for 25 euro and get food there. There is an ATM in the islet but I would recommend having some cash.

Good trip, though return boat was 30 minutes late. We had got to the dock 30 minutes prior to departure as it’s so busy , therefore we queued for 1 hour in total to return to Alicante. My children found that difficult. Also some upbeat music should be played on boat as none played on outward journey. A passenger played some & all the other passengers really enjoyed it.

Well worth it. If you come to Alicante, this should be on your list of places to see. Allow 6-8 hours. The boat ride is 1 hour each way. You need about 1.5 hours to walk the entire island. And lunch should be about 1.5 hours. But, return rides on Contiki don't start until 4 pm. If you depart at 945 am from Alicante, you will have ample time to lay on one of the many beach areas.
