What to Expect
The southern tip of Portugal is a birdwatcher's paradise! This protected area has been named one of Portugal's Seven Natural Wonders. Come and experience the beauty of this protected area, and discover a huge variety of birds.

Your trip will begin with an easy ride to the saltpans in Tavira, where you may be fortunate enough to spot the Little Egret, Spoonbill and the colorful flamingos. All of these birds call these waters home, and your guide will help point out the varieties to you. A field guide, also available, helps train your eye for the rarer species that you might spot.

As we wander down the complex of Salinas, we'll have the chance to see many other species, including the lovely Kentish Plover and the Little Tern. Birds like the Sandwich Tern, Redshank, Little Stint and more all call these waters home, so keep your eyes open. With a little luck, we may even spot the Stone Curlew!
