The biodiversity of the Ria Formosa is truly marvelous. Noted as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal, you will discover this rich landscape by bike! Under the watchful eye of your expert guide, we will explore the surroundings from saltpans to beaches on a fun and comfortable ride! As we set off, you will be treated to sights of birdlife and the incredible range of wildlife these protected lands have to offer. Your guide will help explain this unique environment as you visit the Saltpans -- a truly marvelous place to stop and enjoy some birdwatching. With binoculars in hand, you'll be invited into a world of Flamingos. Next up, we'll pedal our way to the marshlands of the Ria Formosa, where you will get a great sense of how these channels and small islets make up this rich landscape. After continuing along, you will arrive at the Praia de Faro (Faro Beach). All of your efforts pay off here as we have some of time to relax on the beach and enjoy a refreshing drink. The azure blue waters invite you to take a swim before continuing your journey back to Faro.

The equipment was not yet in order on departure, tires not full, chain off. Once we were on our way, the bikes rode great. The guide made every effort to arrange this asap. And took into account delay at end time. We had a good and nice guide who knew a lot about salt production and the nature reserve and discussed what we wanted to see. It was a pity that we had to cycle around the airport, not the most inspiring part of the route, and that we did not cycle around but had to return via the same route. The nature is beautiful and if you feel like going out sporty, this activity is definitely recommended.

Our guide Richard was friendly and knowledgeable, providing us with lots of information about the area. The ride was well paced with enough time to get to the coast and back. There were a couple of problems with the bikes themselves, but Richard did what he could to get them sorted. The route itself was flat but challenging enough to make it interesting.

I'm very glad we booked this tour. It was a very relaxed paced cycle with plenty of stops for photos and a quick look at the beach before we returned. It was the first time we had seen flamingoes in the wild and the salt pans were beautiful. Philippe gave an excellent commentary. It was good to learn about the seahorse programme.
