Full description

Start your tour at the Akhtala Monastery, a church from the 12th century which contains beautiful frescoes and is surrounded by copper smelting caves as well as a copper smelting factory. The second destination of the tour is the Haghpat Monastery, located in Haghpat Village and is a UNESCO-listed site. It is one of the most beautiful medieval masterpieces in Armenia. Then you can have lunch and try some traditional Armenian food. Following lunch, you'll make 3 stops on your way to visit the second UNESCO Heritage Site, Sanahin. 

The first will be a 13th-century bridge, the second for a Debed canyon with astonishing views, and the third for the Mikoyan Brothers' museum, where an original aircraft (MiG 21) will surprise you. Finally, travel back through the border to Tbilisi.

Great day trip to Armenia from Tbilisi. Catherine was excellent. She’s a terrific communicator and has a wonderful personality. When we started the trip, she had everyone introduced themselves, which gave us a great rapport among all of the different passengers. Great to be able to talk to people from different countries. What an enjoyable day. She had all her facts at her fingertips. She kept us entertained with stories, with history and with everything that we asked, she had an answer. The Armenian lunch was fantastic. More than expected. The food was outstanding and recommended highly. A big thank you also to our driver who did an amazing job darting in and out of traffic to get us back home. Thank you. Great value for our money on this day trip.

The day trip to Armenia was incredible! Metro was an amazing guide, I really enjoyed learning the differences religion/culture reflected in the architecture. My favorite part of the trip was the homemade lunch - the food was amazing and had the opportunity for homemade wine (:
