  • The Mambo Combo! Rappel + Raft in Costa Rica

    10. The Mambo Combo! Rappel + Raft in Costa Rica

Combine the exciting Lost Canyon Adventures Canyoneering and rafting on the beautiful Río Balsa for a full-day of pure adrenaline! This is the perfect blend of canyons, rappelling, whitewater adventure, wildlife, rolling rapids, and vibrant jungle! The Lost Canyon Adventure is an experience of a lifetime - go where very few have had the privilege to roam! Imagine yourself in the midst of a thick rainforest, at the top of a magical canyon, full of tropical waterfalls with surprises each step of the journey! You’ll get to rappel, down-climb, and experience amazing free-falls. Afterwards, head to the river and ride the waves of the Rio Balsa for about 2.5 hours along 10 kilometers of lush Costa Rican rainforest. You’ll finish off this fun-filled day with a delicious lunch at a charming, rural location.

We enjoyed the rapelling and rafting excursions. We rapelled in the cool, refreshing water of the canyon. Be warned that there are slippery rocks so hiking sandals with good traction are a must. Also, the hike back up was steep, so you must be moderately fit and healthy. The good thing was that there were stepping stones. The Balsa River rafting tour was exhilarating; there were plenty of class 2 & 3 rapids which made it exciting. Just when you thought you can let your guard down, the river starts boiling and rumbling again. We were able to clean off the river water in 4 outdoor showers (cold water only) and there were a few private changing rooms. At the end of our adventure, a generous plate of casada (black beans and rice) with veggies, yucca, two pieces of braised chicken and relish was served to us. We also got a chance to sample shots of moonshine and see how brown sugar was made from harvested sugar cane. We had a great time. Highly recommended.

Super fun experience. We left at the end of the afternoon, saw lots of birds, sloth and monkeys. As soon as it gets dark it is crawling with sounds.

I would have loved to see turtles, but the passion and experience of the guide was good, we saw several species.

Wonderful day on Arenal lake trying the stand up paddling. Very nice guides.

Amazing tour, great guide. On time pickup. Saw incredible wildlife.
