Full description
Enjoy a 2-hour whale and bird watching tour starting from the floating pier in Akureyri. Experience and get close to the incredible humpback whales of the Eyjafjord, starting from the capital of North Iceland, Akureyri. With only 12 passengers on each boat, take part in an adventure of a lifetime on an intimate whale watching tour.   The specially made RIB boats allow you to get closer to the whales and wildlife than any other boat can offer. The RIBs are fast and small boats that will also get you quicker to the whales and cover a bigger area as you search for the wild life. This means a bigger chance of spotting whales, dolphins and bird life with out disturbing them in their natural habitat. If you have a passion for nature and love for adventure, this is the tour for you. EarthCheck certified, the boats carry the Blue Flag. In 2008, this tour received the Environmental Award of the Icelandic Tourist Board and Vakinn Endorsed Travel Service and Enviro Gold in 2012.

The guide was terrific, very knowledgeable. We saw multiple whales. Only complaint was the ride back we encountered a lot of waves and the boat was going very fast. Lots of pounding on the seas, with several hits so hard that I injured my back. It’s been a week and I am still experiencing difficulty bending over and walking a lot.

We were glad we booked this. The whole process was easy, straight to the booth (we were an hour early so we took a walk for 30mins and came back), get changed, and hop on the RIB Boat. We were guided by a marine biologist from Germany, she was nice, she explained quite a bit about whales. We were lucky to see Moonshine (a humpback) about 5-6 times surfacing. But she was the only one we saw. Were hoping to see other kinds of whales.
