From Paphos: Akamas Peninsula National Park Tour

2. From Paphos: Akamas Peninsula National Park Tour

Enjoy a day in the beautiful and unspoiled Akamas peninsula stopping first to trek into the Avakas Gorge with its stunning natural views, fauna, and flora. (Please note that customers wishing to enter the innermost part of the gorge do so at their own risk due to the danger of falling rocks). We continue to Lara Bay, the nesting ground of the Green and Loggerhead turtles and home to the turtle conservation project. If you are lucky, you may even see the baby turtles hatching (end of July to October). There will be time for swimming at this secluded paradise beach followed by free time for lunch at a nearby tavern (not included in the price). We drive to St George Church located in a small fishing village overlooking the sea to take photographs. On our return we will stop to view the Shipwreck and Sea Caves which present a dramatic image on the natural rocky shoreline.

Akamas Panoramic Walk

3. Akamas Panoramic Walk

Explore the playground of the goddess of love, Aphrodite. This 7-kilometer walk takes place in Akamas, a pristine, almost untouched area of Cyprus. If the customers prefer, we do a longer, 10-km walk and first do the east part of the Adonis trail, reaching the ruins of a medieval monastery for a picnic. From there, the route ascends to the peak known as "Moutti tis Sotiras". Enjoy unobstructed views of the north coast from Cape Arnaouti, the tip of Akamas, towards Chrysochou Bay, and the northwest all the way to Pomos in the northeast. After a pause for a picnic (in summer, we usually stop at a shaded spot) and soaking in the majestic views, walk to the Baths of Aphrodite on the Aphrodite trail (the last stretch is on a coastal dirt road, near the cliff). Depending on travelers' preferences and time availability, the tour route can be made longer (10 or 13 km). Other activities like swimming and snorkeling can also be included (usually during the hot season).

Cyprus: Akamas Guided Snorkeling Day Tour with Transport

4. Cyprus: Akamas Guided Snorkeling Day Tour with Transport

The north coast of Akamas offers excellent snorkeling possibilities. It is characterised by crystal clear waters and light blue water colours at many places as well as a collection of different rock colours and formations. We usually snorkel for 4-5 km (and have a pause at a secluded beach) in a go and return route. I do recommend going a bit further west, to Koufotrypis beach, where there is a beautiful sea cave (total length would increase to 7 km). There is even the possibility to do a linear 6 km snorkeling route, go further west, upto Blue Lagoon cove, with beautiful white sands and pick up the local taxi back to the starting point. In all our trips we used buoy(s) for passing boats to note our presence. If we are lucky we may spot sea turtles in the trip. It should be noted that from Nicosia one should only book this as a ten-hour option.

Cyprus: North Akamas National Park Kayaking Tour

5. Cyprus: North Akamas National Park Kayaking Tour

We start from the beach at Baths of Aphrodite and kayak west along the rugged coast and cliffs of Akamas north coast. Subsequently we reach the flatter part of the north coast and some excellent coves. If the sea is calm, it is highly recommended that we also do some snorkeling (if customers like to). Depending on time availability and customers preferences, we may be able to kayak as far west as Blue Lagoon cove (but this may be easier in the ten-hour trip). In the end we kayak back to Aphrodite's Baths. The basic kayaking route: Along north Akamas coast upto Amphitheater beach (9 km / 5.5 mi) (from the beach at Baths of Aphrodite going west and back) If we have time (especially if the travellers choose the ten-hour option) and explorers want to, we can also go further west upto Manolis cove or even to Blue Lagoon and back (more feasible in the ten-hour trip from Limassol or Paphos). A maximum of two people kayaking at a time (with the possibility of upto four people coming along on the trip, in which case we would need to manage the use of the kayaks among the four participants). If the customers agree, in case of forecasted choppy sea, instead we do an 8-hour kayaking trip along Pegeia coast (if the weather is expected to be bad everywhere, we cancel the trip).
