• Day one: Transfer from Kigali to Musanze Begin the experience with a Kigali city tour, visiting interesting spots like the craft market, the Gisozi genocide memorial site, and Kigali Museum. Following, embark on a two-hour drive to Musanze, stopping at Red Rocks Intercultural Exchange Center for lunch. Listen as local brew makers provide an introduction to the chemical process of brewing local beer from bananas. Settle in for overnight at The Garden Place Hotel. • Day two: Golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park After breakfast, report to the park headquarters for your first experience with endangered species in the Volcanoes NP, the golden monkeys. The trek is typically an easy one, taking one to two hours. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the IbyIwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwanda's pre-colonial history through a series of demonstrations and activities. Try your hand at archery, learn local food preparation techniques, become familiar with traditional medicines, and even act as king or queen for the day. Overnight at The Garden Place Hotel. • Day three: Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park After an early morning breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch early enough to be briefed on the code of conduct while with the gorillas. Then, enter the forest in search of the gorillas, which may take two to six hours depending on their movement through the jungle. Meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour. Overnight at The Garden Place Hotel. • Day four: Musanze - Kigali - Akagera National Park Wake early and have breakfast before checking out from the lodge. After that, your driver-guide will transfer you to Akagera National Park through Kigali. Overnight at Akagera Game Lodge. • Day five: Game drive and boat ride in Akagera National Park Enjoy an early morning breakfast and start your day of game-spotting in an open-top vehicle. A half-day game drive here grants you the opportunity to spot a variety of game including elephants, buffalos, hippos, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebras, topis, bush babies, leopards, bushbuck, and more. Continue with a boat trip after lunch on Lake Ihema for a close encounter with the crocodiles and hippos along the river banks. Look up to witness the large concentration of over 525 bird species both migratory and Savanna-related. Unique species such as shoe billed stocks and papyrus gonolek may be encountered. Endemic species include the jacanas, ibis, sand pipers, and herons. Return for dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge. • Day six: Transfer from Akagera National Park to Kigali Have breakfast and then enjoy a morning game drive before returning to Kigali. Get dropped off at your lodge in Kigali for check-in, or at the airport for your departure flight.

2. Rwanda: 9 Days Gorilla Trekking Adventure Safari

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Akagera National Park Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali and transfer you to Akagera National Park. Enjoy an afternoon game drive, and keep your eyes open for the Big 5 and big cats. Overnight at Akagera Game Lodge. Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise Head out on another game drive in the early morning. After lunch, take a boat trip on Lake Ihema for a close encounter with the crocodiles and hippos along the river banks. Spot some of the over 525 bird species, both migratory and savanna-dwelling, in the area. Overnight at Akagera Game Lodge. Day 3: Akagera National Park — Kigali — Musanze Have breakfast and then enjoy a morning game drive before returning to Kigali. Visit interesting sights, which may include the craft market or the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Afterward, depart for a 2-hour drive to Musanze. Arrive at the Red Rocks Intercultural Exchange Center for lunch, before joining the local brew makers to understand the process of brewing a local beer from bananas. Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking in Volcanoes National Park After breakfast, report to the park headquarters for your first experience with an endangered species in Volcanoes National Park. The golden monkey trek is normally an easy trek that takes 1-2 hours. Later, visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Overnight at The Garden Place Hotel. Day 5: Hike to Bisoke Crater Lake Today you will hike to the top of Mount Bisoke Crater. Overnight at The Garden Place Hotel. Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park After an early morning breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters together with your packed lunch. Learn about the code of conduct for your encounter with the gorillas in a short briefing. Then, enter the forest in search of the gorillas, which may take 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas in the jungle. Meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of 1 hour. Overnight at The Garden Place Hotel. Day 7: Lake Kivu and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park After early morning breakfast at the lodge, drive for 1 hour to Rubava to visit Lake Kivu and enjoy the morning breeze on the shores. Spend 1 hour there, then get back on the road to proceed on your 4-5 hour drive to Nyungwe National Park with lunch en route. Overnight at Emeraude Lake Resort. Day 8: Chimpanzee Trekking — Canopy Walk Have breakfast then head out on a trek to find chimpanzees in Nyungwe National Park. You enjoy a 1-hour stay on finding the chimpanzees. After the chimpanzee trek, head for lunch at the hotel. After lunch, go back to Nyungwe National Park for a canopy walk. Overnight at Emeraude Lake Resort. Day 9: Nyungwe National Park — Butare — Kigali After an early morning breakfast, transfer back to Kigali where you will be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport to catch your flight back home.

3. Rwanda: 3-Day Gorilla Trekking, Big 5 & Big Cats Safaris

Day 1:  After breakfast in the morning, meet your driver/guide at your hotel in Kigali and set off for Akagera National Park. Drive for around 2.5 hours admiring the beautiful scenery during the journey. Feel free to ask the guide to make a stopover at any point to take photos. When you arrive at the park, take a short game drive then proceed to your accommodation to check-in. After lunch,  take a boat trip on Lake Ihema to watch hippos and crocodiles basking in the water or by the shores. Stay overnight at Akagera Game Lodge.  Day 2: After breakfast at the lodge, bid Akagera National Park farewell and return to Kigali. Visit the Genocide Memorial Center - the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the genocide against the Tutsi. After lunch, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park - located 80 km from Kigali and approximately a 2-hour drive away. When you arrive, visit the Twin Lakes which flow into one another with plenty of bird watching opportunities and spectacular views of the surrounding volcanoes. Stay overnight at The Garden Place Hotel.  Day 3: Wake up for an early morning breakfast and get ready to leave your lodge at 6:30 AM for the gorilla trekking. First, read to the park headquarters where you will be allocated a guide and briefed before heading into the forest. Trek to 1 of the 10 habituated gorilla families in Rwanda on this exclusive tour; only 8 people are able to trek each gorilla family. Travel through the forest in the company of your experienced ranger while searching for the mountain gorillas. It may take between 2 to 6 hours to locate these great apes, depending on their movement across up to 40 km of territory. The park rangers and guides will clear the way and assist you through the forest. Once a gorilla group is located, spend an hour with them as they move, feed, play and rest. Experience sitting with the animals - one of the most amazing and unique wildlife encounters you will ever have. Finally, transfer back to your hotel in Kigali where your tour concludes.

Upon arrival at the park, proceed to the hotel for check-in and later enjoy an evening game drive. Meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of 1 hour before heading back to the hotel.  Day 5 Rise early for check-out and breakfast before you begin the journey back to Kigali and visit the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo along the way. In Kigali, enjoy some free time for shopping at the local market before getting dropped off at the airport in time for your flight home.

5. Kigali: Akagera National Park Big 5 & Big Cats Day Safari

Embark on a full-day safari adventure in Akagera National Park, known for its varied terrain of savannah and wetlands which makes the park home to a wide variety of fauna. Spot exciting wildlife such as the Big 5 and big cats on your game drive and enjoy the magnificent views of the natural surroundings. Meet your small group early in the morning (around 5 AM) and hop in the van which will take you straight to Akagera National Park. After a short introduction and safety briefing, you'll have time to get comfortable before heading out in search of the Big 5. Explore routes less traveled in your game viewing 4x4 with your experienced guide tracking the animals you want to see. Encounter wildlife such as elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, kudu, and of course lion, leopard, and cheetah. Akagera National Park lies in eastern Rwanda, hugging the border with Tanzania. It's characterized by woodland, swamps, low mountains, and savannah. The varied terrain shelters wildlife including zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions, and hundreds of bird species, such as the rare shoebill stork. In the southern part of the park, vast Lake Ihema is home to hippos and crocodiles. On completion of the game drive (+-3.5 hours), return to base camp for a debrief from your professional guide and tuck into a delicious meal. After, return to your hotel in Kigali.
