There was a lot of driving but it was most definitely worth it for everything we got to do and see. We were blown away by the natural beauty of Morocco, particularly by the Todra Gorges! The hotel we stayed at on the first night was lovely and had a pool and roof terrace for dinner. The campsite was lovely, as were the staff. The camel ride and sandboarding was great fun and everyone who worked there was lovely. We learnt so much about the Amazigh people. Our driver, Abdelaali, was amazing. He was very friendly and kept spirits high. He also went above and beyond when I accidentally left my sunglasses on the bus and he drove to drop them off for me the next day.
This was a great experience! Every activity was so fun and we got to learn a ton about the Berber people and Moroccan culture! It would have been better to have clearer expectations on how much driving we would be doing and what “camping” truly meant… we were in enclosed tents in the desert with no AC and barely anyone was able to sleep. It is also a lot of bus time - HOWEVER it was totally worth it! For the price we paid, we got an INCREDIBLE experience and all of our guides (especially our driver Ajbeli) were incredible! Overall incredible experience!!

Full description
Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Dades
Begin your journey by crossing the High Atlas Mountains past one Berber village after another to the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. This village is famous for its kasbah and fortified village and has been used as a set for some famous Hollywood epics and magazine photo shoots. After some leisure time, enjoy lunch in a local restaurant and continue your drive through Ouarzazate, known as the Gate of the Sahara. Continue to Boumalne Dades, admiring the scenic drive along the Dades Valley, where you can enjoy dinner and rest for the night at Kasbah in Dades or Kelaat Mgouna.
Day 2: Dades - Todgha Gorges - Merzouga
Following breakfast, depart your hotel and drive to Tinghir and its dramatic Todgha Gorges, pausing for some free time to explore the canyons. Enjoy lunch at a local cafe and continue to Merzouga to meet your camel caravan. Experience the Erg Chebbi dunes on camelback and watch the sunset set. Reach your desert camp before nightfall and enjoy an authentic Moroccan dinner under the stars. Local nomads will provide entertainment and show you how to play the traditional Tam Tam drums. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stop.
Day 3: Merzouga Ouarzazate - Marrakech
Following an early wake-up to watch the sunrise before breakfast (optional), a driver will be waiting to pick you up for the transfer back to Marrakech. Stop halfway for lunch at a local restaurant. Get dropped off at your original departure point or Djemaa El Fna around 8 PM. You can also book upgrades for the night in the Bedouin camp such as the deluxe desert camp with a luxury private tent complete with an ensuite shower, bathroom facilities, and 5-star amenities. These upgrades need to be booked per person.

- Tour starts at 7 AM on Day 1 and ends around 8 PM on Day 3
- You’ll get your pickup details via WhatsApp (main contact) and email the day before your trip—usually by 6 PM.
- We’ll pick you up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. If it’s not accessible by car, no worries—we’ll set a nearby meeting point just a short walk away.
- Tour can also start from Ouarzazate
- Both luxury and standard camps offer private tents. Luxury tents come with private bathrooms inside, while standard tents use shared bathrooms nearby. (See “standard or luxury desert camp booking options” for more info.)
- Sunrise/sunset camel rides and Sandboarding are included in all camp types
- Camel ride alternatives: You can walk to the camp (standard option only), or request a 4x4 transfer for €50 per vehicle—available for both standard and luxury camps.
