This trip takes you to an in-depth look at the formation of Ethiopia as a state from its inception around the second half of the fourth century to the present in the north to the rich cultures of southern Ethiopia.
What to Expect
Day 01:
Your tour starts in Addis Ababa, the Home of the African Union and many international organizations, with a visit to Entoto mountains with views over the capital, the old palace, the National museum, St George church. Hotel accommodation.

Day 02:
Fly to Bahirdar, and transfer hotel for check-in. In the morning drive to admire the Blue Nile falls and back for lunch in Bahirdar. Afternoon boat trip on Lake Tana to admire the beautiful monasteries over the lake’s islands, as Ura Kidane Mehret and Mahal Zeghie Gyorgis.

Day 03:
Early departure to Gondar, the medieval city of Ethiopia. Check in to your hotel and then visit castles and churches in Gondar: visit the castle’s compound, the Debre Birhan Sellasie church, which means the light of Trinity with wonderful murals, the King Fasiladas bath, the old Qusquam monastery, Empress Mentewab palace. Hotel accommodation in Gondar.

Day 04:
Fly to Lalibela, the 12thc civilization of Ethiopia, and what is defined as the 8thwonder in the world, and afternoon visit the first group of the rock-hewn churches. Hotel accommodation in Lalibela.

Day 05:
In the morning visit one of the churches out of the town. We suggest an excursion by mules to the Asheten Mariam church, with spectacular views too. Or by car to the cave church of Naktuleab. Afternoon remaining churches in Lalibela and the rest of the time free to walk around. Hotel accommodation.

Day 06:
Fly to Axum, check in to your hotel and then visit the steals, St Mary of Tsion church where legend says is deposited the Ark of Covenant, the bath and the palace of Queen of Sheba, toms of kings, and other archeological sites. Hotel accommodation in Axum

Day 07:
Fly to Addis stop in a café and drive to Langano, admiring the crater lakes of DebreZeith, the Rift Valley lakes of Shala and Abyata. Lodge accommodation in Langano or Hotel in Awassa.

Day 08:
Drive through the Wolayta land and cries-cross the villages of wolayta people with spectacular green hills, then precede to Arbaminch. Afternoon drive to Chencha, to see the Dorze people, with their unique culture, houses, and traditions. Hotel accommodation in Arbaminch.

Day 09:
Drive to Turmi, admiring on the way the Konso, Derase and Tsemay people. Proceed then to visit the very colorful Hamar people, the land of the beautiful people. Lodge accommodation in Turmi.

Day 10:
Morning excursion to Dassanech people villages at Omo Rate, at bank of Omo river. Then back Turmi for Monday very colorful Hamer, Karo and Dassanech people market at Turmi village. Afternoon free for the very interesting Hamer people and to visit their villages. Lodge accommodation.

Day 11:
Drive to visit the Karo people, to see their fascinating decoration and scarification on their body; and very nice views over Omo river from Kortcho village. Proceed then to the Mago National park. Camping within the Park.

Day 12:
Game drive into the Mago National park, admiring different mammals and birds on the way; and proceed to visit the Mursi people and their villages, the land of the lip-plates in the mountains. ON Hotel in Arbaminch

Day 13:
Drive back to Arbaminch, admiring the very colorful Thursday’s Tsemay and Erbore people market at KeyAfer village. Then proceed to Konso and if time permits visit one of their villages. Hotel accommodation in Arbaminch.

Day 14:
Morning visit the Netch Sar National park, sanctuary of the endemic Swaynes Hartebeest, numerous zebras, lesser kudu and birds. Afternoon boat on Chamo Lake for crocodiles, biggest in Africa- 6 M long, and hippos. Hotel accommodation.

Day 15:
Drive back to Addis Ababa. Take your time for souvenir and other shopping’s. Evening traditional dinner with folkloristic dances. Then departure to your respective country.
