What to Expect
Spend six days in the Bale Mountain region and Oromo Highlands of Ethiopia, where you can hike Sanneti Plateau, go bird-watching in Awassa, and visit a preserved bird sanctuary in Shalla Parks.
Day 1: Bale Region
Head to Assela and through the Bale region, where you will camp overnight in Bale Goba.
Day 2: Sanneti Plateau
Spend the day hiking Sanneti Plateau, all the way up to Deemtu Summit. You will enjoy lunch along the way and watch games in Dinsho.
Day 3: Omar Caves
Head out to Omar Caves today, and enjoy a scenic drive along Wabe Shebell Gorge.
Day 4: Awassa
Today you will head to the beautiful valley of Awassa, where you can enjoy the scenic mountain vistas.
Day 5: Awassa Town
Head down to Awassa Town for a bird-watching tour, and explore the town's fish market before enjoying the rest of the afternoon relaxing on your own.
Day 6: Shalla Parks
Drive to Laka Abyatta and Shalla Parks to see a preserved bird sanctuary, and enjoy lunch in Ziway before visiting Tiya Stelae, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
