Immerse yourself in the history of Venice

An elderly lady led us through the winding streets of Venice in good German. It was an exciting immersion in history: from Marco Polo to the Markus Brotherhood and the Doges to the "Department Store of the Germans", everything was there. Funny and rich, colorful and technically competent. Excellent! The subsequent gondola ride was also a real experience, not too short and not too long.

Very interesting walking tour: a gondola ride is a gondola ride

We (three) did this tour almost at the end of our time in Venice (1 week), which might have been a mistake. Our guide for the walking tour was Alessandro, pleasant, keen, well presented, polite - could not have been better. He pointed out lots of places for us to go later on. He also focused on an area west of San Marco where we luckily had not been much. The gondola ride was good, but nothing more than a gondola ride. Rather peaceful after the hubbub of the rest of Venice, I cannot get the category ratings with stars below to work - all 4 or 5 Stars.

Really informative.

Excellent trip and a lovely and knowledgable lady that took us round. There were 6 people on our gondola. Certainly worth the money as wouldn't pay for a private one at those prices. The guy on the gondola didn't say a word which was a shame but that all depends on who you have.
