Covid-19 Update

Due to health and safety regulations, this itinerary may change. See Know before you go for the latest updates.

See the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica, two of the most iconic sites in Venice, on a guided tour.

For centuries, the destiny of the Most Serene Republic was decided in the majestic halls of the Doge’s Palace. Walk through the magnificent halls and marvel at the well-conserved priceless treasures, art masterpieces, and frescos.

Visit the prison, passing over the celebrated Bridge of Sighs, so called because prisoners often sighed while looking at their beloved lagoon and freedom for the last time before reaching their cells.

Among the famous guests of the Doge’s Palace prisons was Giacomo Casanova, the celebrated seducer and adventurer who managed to escape from the prison in 1756.

Next, head to St. Mark’s Basilica, one of the world’s most stunning churches. As the name suggests, this cathedral is bound tightly to Venice’s patron, St. Mark, and the saint's remains are in fact here.

Admire the breathtaking golden mosaics covering the high walls, and see the Pala d’Oro, an altarpiece made from hundreds of pieces of enamel on a golden leaf.

Loved the energy and enthusiasm from our guide! She was wonderful with our kids even though our youngest struggled listening to Mom and Dad a few times(hard in the afternoon) Our 11yr old was engaged and I know he learned a lot and enjoyed the experience. My only negative is we went 30/45minutes past our tour time which normally would be a dream but with small children they were done. I think we could have done this one alone as a family but still a fantastic opportunity.

The tour went smoothly, our guide was very attentive and enthusiastic! We didn't have to queue and also had a few quiet minutes in the rooms to marvel and take pictures. (May be due to the season) The group consisted of 14 people. One point of criticism is that we were not able to go back into the premises after the tour, neither into the cathedral nor into the palace. You depend on the speed of the guide. Likewise, admission to the museum visit has not been scheduled for the same day, but for the day after. This was not reflected in the booking, since we had to leave the day after, so we were not able to attend this paid visit! What a pity! Everything else was great :)

Our guide was very good, interesting, attentive. The visit has a fairly steady pace. Small regret, we did not have time to place a candle at the basilica. The basilica is incredible, the visit to the prison is interesting. We crossed the Bridge of Sighs from the inside almost without realizing it, too bad.. We finished the visit a lot in advance, we are disappointed because we would have seen more things.. Good visit all the same.
