Full description
Enjoy 6 authentic, delicious tastings and a drink included in this unforgettable personalized food tour of Tokyo with a friendly local guide. Explore the food scene in the electric streets of Shibuya and Shinjuku, Tokyo’s fast-paced commercial hubs and a foodie havens. First, meet your guide at the iconic Shibuya Crossing, one of the busiest intersections in the world, and make the mad dash across to a depachika – expansive food halls in the basements of luxurious department stores – to stock up on traditional snacks like Gyoza dumplings for a quick picnic in Yoyogi Park. Explore Cat Street, a quiet backstreet with limited car traffic where well-heeled locals move between high-end fashion boutiques and cool cafes, then indulge in super-fresh kaiten sushi (sushi on a rotating conveyor belt) in the city that made it a culinary icon. After that, give your stomach a break with a peaceful stroll down the zelkova tree-lined avenue of upmarket Omotesando, and pass quirky designer stores – and even some urban farm animals – on your way to Takeshita Street, a pedestrian shopping exploding with colorful shops, cafes, and popular eateries. Next, why not stop off somewhere for a bowl of ramen? Tokyo has varieties that don’t exist anywhere else in the world! Quench your thirst with a drink from a vending machine, and hop on the train to Shinjuku’s Omoide Yokocho, a quintessentially Tokyo labyrinth of alleys crammed with tiny bars and food stalls. Sample food like Dango, a rice flour dumpling drenched in sweet soy sauce, or crunch on surprisingly delicious fried chicken from a local convenience store! Finally, head to one of the area’s super-trendy cafes or dessert bars for something utterly delectable, and end in Tokyo’s Korean corner, Shin-Okubo, where – unlike in Japanese cuisine – spice and strong flavors are the name of the game. Your itinerary will be fully personalized according to your preferences. Once you’ve booked, someone from the local operator's team will be in touch, so let them know if you have any special requirements.

Michael is a super cool guy who was fun to chat with. He was very knowledgeable in his choice of cuisines and super flexible with our preferences. We visited several local places that were not touristy. We even visited a shrine. He also took great photos and had good suggestions for vegetarian Ramen that we tried the next day—totally worth our trek! Thanks, made for a great first night in Tokyo!

Highly recommended

We had Mithila as our guide for this trip. Four hours of culinary adventure. During our tour we had many local specialties across Tokyo, without any time pressure. At the end Mithila showed us where some great places we could explore by our own, with even more delicious japanese food. This excursion is really highly recommended!

We had a perfect day with our guide Patrick. We biked all over Tokyo and visited tourist sites, quiet neighbourhoods and a water throwing festival. During the day we tried differet kind of food like onigiri from the basement of a shopping center for breakfast, takoyaki kushiyaki at the festival and the most amazing ochazuke from a small restaurant in a quiet street. Patrick was an fantastic guide and the idea to bike around was amazing.
