Highlights
  • Explore the canals and waters of Stockholm
  • See the City Hall and Stockholm Old Town from a one-man kayak
  • Go around central islands such Långholmen or Kungsholmen
Full description
Arrive at the green island Långholmen (Södermalm) and be greeted by a professional instructor. Leave all unnecessary things at the rental and collect all of the equipment, such as lifejackets, and drybags. One of the instructors will go through everything you need to know about kayaking and where to go. On the water, explore the many canals of Stockholm. One of the more popular tours is to go around the islands Långholmen and Reimerisholme. Exploring Stockholm is more fun from a kayak since this city consists of islands. See the City Hall and parts of the Old Town. Choose between a single-person kayak or a 2-person kayak for the chance to sit close to your friend or loved one. For the latter option, the person in the front sets the pace, and the person in the back controls the steering.

I received good instruction before heading out and a friendly welcome from the instructors, I enjoyed being out on the water during a nice day. It was great to see sights from the water and felt relaxing to sit on the water. I would recommend this during the summer and spring months.

The young instructor assigned to us was clearly new and finished our briefing in 5mins. However, for a later batch, a senior guy gave detailed and correct instructions. But, there's nothing to worry, the learning curve isn't too steep. We initially went round in circles for first few minutes. But, soon figured out ourselves how to go forward and steer. Excellent guidance on route selection and help in getting in and out of the kayak by the other staff members. Remember to carry water to drink on the kayak, you will get thirsty. 2 hours is more than adequate to do a full circuit of both Långholmen and the smaller Reimersholme islands. The route is quite beautiful especially in the smaller canal sections. A waterproof action camera or case for your smartphone is highly recommended for taking pictures along the way. If the weather's good, there will be lot of private boats creating waves. Be wary of those! We almost got turned over by a big one! Happy Kayaking!

Lovely tour with several supportive instructors.

One of my best experiences in paddling out in a Stockholm at 10:00 am alone in almost rainy weather. The first time for me kayaking. I enjoyed every second, especially when I was placed in the kayak by two people who gave me instructions on having "bare" feet on the kayak pedals. After wearing a life jacket and clothing to protect water, I shot my first paddle. One instructor said I would make my trip to the right to get some wind out on the bay. And it really did. In this way I got to see Stockholm from a completely different side than the one I am used to. Been here since 1984. When I came back, the instructors stood there and welcomed me and lifted me from the kayak. I can really recommend this adventure even to someone like me who has never tried it before. I will do it again. Maria
