Full description
You’ll be picked up at your Siem Reap hotel between 7:40 AM and 8:10 AM, and head out for a full day exploring the spectacular temples of Angkor. Angkor Wat is the world’s largest sacred building and an architectural masterpiece. Built in the 12th century, the temple took 30 years to complete and represents Khmer civilization at its peak. You’ll also visit the southern gate of Angkor Thom, which is flanked by a row of 54 stone figures on each side (gods to the left and demons to the right), and the fortified city of Angkor Thom. At the Bayon temple (12th century), you’ll admire its beautifully crafted central towers covered with over 200 enormous faces, and then pass by the famous Terrace of the Leper King and the Terrace of the Elephants. Following lunch and a rest break, you’ll set out to see the jungle-enveloped Ta Prohm, one of the most atmospheric of all temples in Angkor. Once home to 2,740 monks, Ta Prohm today looks much as it did in the early 1850s, when French explorer Henri Mouhot rediscovered this crumbling site. After exploring the maze-like interior of Ta Prohm, head back to your hotel where you’ll be dropped off between 3 PM and 4 PM.

The tour was great! Perfectly planned with our fantastic guide, Bob. We came to find out he has a Ph.D in tourism and studied archaeology in uni. Very intelligent man and loved explaining all the hidden details of the Angkor complex temples and the civilizations of Cambodia. He also compared the cultures of Laos and Thailand and had bits of information that related to the rest of Asia. Our driver was good too. A great experience!

Excellent Tour Guide for Siem Reap - Noun Chansarak. Had a wonderful day visiting the temples with a small party group of 7 in the expert hands of our tour guide ‘Sarak’ and the bus driver. Always with a smile to answer any questions posed, his knowledge of the Khmer history and insight into Cambodian life was a delight. Highly recommended.
