Full description
On this 2-hour walking tour you will learn about the city’s darker side as you glance in to its macabre underbelly. Paris has a long and tragic history of murder and execution, of rampant disease among the lower classes, and of bitter wars fought against a corrupt monarchy. The tour rips open the cloak of darkness, as you wind down alleyways and cut through the hushed night. Your English-speaking guide will take you to sites such as the Place de la Vert Gallant, where the last of the Knights’ Templar was burned at the stake. You will visit St Germain de Auxerrois, where estimates say some 30,000 people were killed in the St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre. Your guide will point out places of interest as you stroll, leaving no stone unturned. As you delve into stories of ritual worship, you will learn about characters like Napoleon Bonaparte, Marie Antoinette and Henry IV, as well as the serial killers that once stalked these ghastly streets.

Brilliant, brilliant tour!

Not only was our tour guide hilarious but had such a thorough grasp of stories and history that we were fascinated and mouth-agape for the entire length of the tour. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to hear some of the quirkier tales of Paris. Daniel the tour guide is absolutely spellbinding

Great tour, friendly guide.

Daniel was a great tour guide and made sure every story was lively ( poor choice of words I suppose since most all his subjects were about the dead) and even added some history about Paris that was bonus material as we walked in between stories. My only thought I can add to this tour is that it ended somewhat abruptly, at a different area than we began and I think a full circle would have better suited the night. Although he made sure to issue friendly instructions to make sure everyone had a safe (or fun) night. The Templars were my favorite. Also, I was impressed as he was able to stop a late-night-vendor from approaching me while in midstream of his story and didn't pause a beat.

Ben is the best!

I've booked this tour to give my stay in the coty of love a little morbid vibe and I was not disappointed!!! Ben, our guide - he had a super fancy french name that noone could pronounce ^^ - he was the best! He knew so many interesting, funny and scary stories and little known fun facts about this city! We've got to know Paris from a whole new perspective :) amazing tour with an awesome guide and great people! (And Ben, if you're readibg this: I've finally seen a rat today!)
