Full description
Explore one of the world’s best art museums at your own pace with your ticket to the Louvre. Skip the ticket line and head straight to the security check, before heading inside and viewing some of the world's finest art. Once inside the historic palace located on the Right Bank of the Seine, see unmissable and iconic sights such as the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. Discover masterpieces of the Renaissance and ancient Egyptian relics, along with paintings from the 13th to 20th centuries, prints from the Royal Collection, and much more. The museum first opened on August 10 1793 with an exhibition of just 537 paintings. Despite closing in 1796, due to structural problems, it reopened in 1801 as the Musée Napoléon with a larger collection. Many works were seized and returned to their original owners after the defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo. The collection was increased during the reign of Louis XVIII and Charles X, and during the Second French Empire the museum gained 20,000 pieces. Holdings have grown steadily since the Third Republic, and as of 2008, the collection is divided among 8 curatorial departments: Egyptian Antiquities; Near Eastern Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities; Islamic Art; Sculpture; Decorative Arts; Paintings; and Prints and Drawings. Note that people under 18 and EU residents under 26 get free entry with valid ID.

It was a pretty good experience. As we started the tour after noon, we did not have the opportunity to examine everything in detail. I recommend people who are interested in historical artifacts to spend all their day there. Get the map before you start the tour so that you don't get lost in the historical mazes.

It was a clever idea. At first I didn’t know if there is a separate meeting spot- but in reality it’s just a queue for people with these tickets. Ideally you need to arrive in between 30 minutes before until max 30 minutes past the hour you booked yourself within. And that’s about it.:) and ofc the Louvre itself is exceptional- so that is not even a question. I enjoyed that day so so very much! ❤️ And I went with my mum, so we both had amazing time!

This is an amazing place and is truly a wonder to behold. The timed entrance is a little iffy especially if you go at high times. It gives you an hour to get into the entrance and then proceed into the museum. We went in February and it still took us about 25 mintutes.
