Full description
Join a group of fellow travelers for an evening stroll around the infamous Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York on a 3-hour pub crawl to 3 different venues. Before Prosecuting Attorney - and later Mayor Rudy Giuliani - took control of the city, a neighborhood existed where gang leaders, playwrights, bootleggers and other notorious characters rubbed shoulders. The crime-ridden cauldron was known as "Hell’s Kitchen." Located just beyond the lights of Broadway and Times Square, today the area is a trendy upscale neighborhood for young professionals, although it still retains the working class character and traditions that make it one of New York City’s most colorful and happening neighborhoods. Start at a Hell’s Kitchen bar where famous playwrights mixed with gangsters and police. Then, move to the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, where the NYPD once feared to tread. Drink at the old Westies Gang headquarters, scene of a string of murders, including the broad daylight slaying of the head of the Westies Gang. Finally, end at a quintessential Hell’s Kitchen bar where the booths are still held together with duct tape. The beer is cheap and plentiful, and the bar tenders serve free hot dogs along with their Hell’s Kitchen attitude!

awesome! Wonderful!

Debbie is a wonderful narrator, very open-minded, very interested. She doesn't have an uninteresting life herself either, and listening to her stories is great fun. Of course, your own English should be enough. The pubs were also well attended, so there was no need to catch customers, and in between there are also a few things to discover. Highly recommended! PS The tour duration stated on the registration was only a guideline - I came to the hotel later than I thought ...

The tour was interesting and funny; our guide Dennis Barbarito had interesting stories to tell, he was very authentic, because he was born in this part of New york, many thanks.
