Full description
Transport yourself back to Roman times on a guided tour of Pompeii led by an archeologist. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site for two hours with the help of your expert guide, who will take you around the city preserved by volcanic ash from Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in AD 79. Choose the experience you would like to have, with the choice of either a shared small-group tour or a private tour for your group alone. Start by skipping the line when you enter the city at Porta Marina Superiore, one of the ancient city’s seven gates. Walk the main streets and wander around the Forum, the old heart of the city and the center of public life. From here you can see Mount Vesuvius overlooking the city. Discover constructions such as the Basilica (business and legal center), Thermal Baths, Temples, Bakery and Great Theater of Pompeii. Listen to interesting anecdotes from your archeological guide, who will tell you about people who lived in Pompeii. Even peek at plaster casts of people who were in the city at the time of the eruption. See artworks, mosaics and frescoes in various places that are well-maintained and will take you back nearly 2000 years. Highlights include the House of the Vetti and the Lupanar Brothel. Find out how this famous brothel got its name and see its preserved stone beds and frescoes. Get great tips from your guide at the end of the tour about how to spend the rest of your day. Get directions to the Sanctuary Dedicated to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, the local cathedral that is located close to the excavation site. You can also get directed to the Amphitheater and Orto dei Fuggiaschi.

We visited Pompeii in early July 2020 accompanied by Sergio, a knowledgeable archeologist passionate about Pompei and all its treasures. We practically had the site to ourselves because of the Covid situation- an incredible delight for us though so sad for the Italian tourism industry. Sérgio was an excellent guide who bought ancient Pompeii to life with his intimate knowledge about how people lived, worked, socialised and loved. We learned so much in just two hours, Sergio packed in so much detail about things we would never have noticed if he wasn’t with us. It was a very special experience we won’t forget. We highly recommend Sérgio, he is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide passionate about the history of this wonderful place and it’s people.

We met out front with Sergio and started the tour with a nice history lesson about Pompeii. Sergio was incredibly knowledgeable and pointed out all of the best highlights, stopping so we could all get pictures of the more popular things, and then letting us wander a bit if we had some down time. The weather was amazing, but I would recommend an umbrella for some shade, and a bottle of water!

We had the pleasure of joining a tour with guide Michele. He is a both knowledgeable and very symphatethic archeologist with a deep knowledge of pompeii. Add both humour and a will to convey loads of interesting facts and you have two well spent hours in his company. All communication with the company was professional and quick.
