Full description
Take a 2-hour walking tour of Munich to discover one of the darkest moments in the city’s history, learning of the birth of Nazism, the rise of Hitler, and the infamous Third Reich. In 1919, Germany was emerging from World War I as a defeated and humiliated nation, with Munich in the grips of hyperinflation and Bavaria dominated by revolution and assassination. Out of this fertile soil of chaos rose the Nazi movement, and one of history’s most powerful dictators, Adolf Hitler. Follow the inception of Nazism, from the first mass meeting at the Hofbräuhaus to the failed attempt to seize power at the Feldherrenhalle. You will go to the site of party rallies at Königsplatz, and stop in the Hofgarten to talk about The White Rose Resistance Movement. The tour covers all the important facts and sites that played a role in the origin of this dark chapter, which ended with the beautiful city of Munich in ruins and the second world war cutting deep wounds across Deutschland.

We were very glad that we selected this tour. It helped us not only learn about the Third Reich & WWII in Munich but also provided us with a view of the city that we would have not enjoyed otherwise. The tour goes off the typical "tourist path." We were a group of 5 including both young and old. The tour had a good pace the kept the youth engaged and allowed the older ones to keep up. Our tour guide Alex was great, knowledgeable, engaging and willing to answer all questions. His English was great!

Alex was the guide for the tour I was on, and what an excellent guide he was. Very knowledgeable, as you would expect, but as a norm and bred Münchner, about to put a personal perspective on the city’s history which was an excellent added extra. Really good. Would highly recommend it.

The tour was very interesting and a great deal of information was packed into the limited duration of the tour. The time allowed was just about right, had it been longer then a break may have required. A good balance of the third Reich and today was achieved and that was good.
