Your 6-hour excursion begins with a pick-up at your Catania accommodation and a drive by air-conditioned Jeep or minivan to Mount Etna. As you ascend to a height of 2,000 meters, your professional guide will tell you about the history of the volcano, and will be ready to answer all your questions. Different aspects of the volcano will be highlighted, such as its nature and resources, its amazing landscapes and its huge lava flows that have destroyed buildings and roads. At an altitude of 2,000 meters, you’ll take a guided walk among the ancient craters and recent lava flows, surrounded by a surreal unique moonscape. The trek is an easy one, suitable for everyone, including families with young children and older members. After the trek and a short break you’ll take the car to your second stop. Wearing a helmet and with a flashlight, you’ll visit and explore a lava flow cave. Learn about its origin and the features inside from your guide. The excursion was great! Our guide Simone was very friendly. We were picked up from our Airbnb and this was very convenient. Simone was very knowledgeable about Mount Etna and have us great information about the volcano. I learned a lot during the excursion! 100% recommend this tour if you would like to see the Etna up close without going to the top. We saw many incredible craters from 2000m, I didn't feel the need for us to go any higher. There is also no "surprise" obligation to pay extra to go to the top, like I have seen some people describe in reviews of other Etna tours sold on GeyYourGuide. This tour is comprehensive + no hidden costs at all!

On time pickup. Very friendly and outgoing guide, Joseph. Took time to explain what we saw around. He took us on a different road down on the way back just to change the scenery. Up it was much warmer than anticipated, so we had some additional layers that made the hike a bit challenging. For the ones that are more independent you can easily drive up with your own car, but then there is no one to actually give some info on what you are looking at, so I recommend a guided tour if you want a bit more out of the experience.

From the moment we booked the trip through Get Your Guide with Etna Est, Etna East proved to me very punctual and replying to emails in less then hour. Guide Simone picked us up exactly at designated time and we had great trip to Etna. We learned a lot, had lots of fun with Simone and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The trip itself is very nice, not difficult to walk, but provides good experience of Etna and nice hike among craters. Simone was casual and fun, but at the same time took very good care of our group. Highly recomended!
